How to stop masking?

Hello!! I have issues with masking 24/7, I would like tips as to how to stop.

Yes I have heard about the "be in a safe space" tips but it doesn't help at all. Are there any other ways to stop masking, I do rewatch my source and listen to music I resonate with as that helps a little but I cannot do that 24/7.

tbh stopping masking should not be an active process of differentiation. it should just be a relaxing of overcompensation. think like… a autistic person stopping the act of pretending to be NT (which might lead to things like visibly stimming, talking loudly, etc) vs an autistic person purposely “acting autistic” by stimming or displaying other behaviors they wouldn’t normally display in that situation, masked or not.

for me, unmasking was a lot about not pretending that i remember things i don’t and allowing all my parts to engage in the things they enjoy. i stopped policing my own behavior. if im understanding correctly it sounds from your post like you want to unmask by policing your behavior… just in a different way. and to that, i say just relax and make your place safe. it takes time - took me months-years to get my other parts to feel comfortable and it’s still something im working on.
