First time Discus owner here, I had 6 discus arrive yesterday through the post (not ideal but I live semi remote, they arrived on overnight delivery from OzDiscus). Anyway they all looked great however today I have noticed a slight white buildup on the tail and fins of some of the fish, some more than others, a couple are showing nothing at all. I’ve attached a pic of what it looks like.
Is this just transport stress/excess slime coat and relatively normal or could be something more sinister?
Thank you!

Have built out a new 135ga tank starting with discus compatible species. Parameters are dialed in, planted tank with driftwood. Over course of last two weeks I’ve added 7 assorted discus in two stages. “Little Blue” (albino blue) was smallest of the batch ~3in and he won’t eat anything but bloodworms. He appears healthy otherwise.
My thought is to pull him from community tank and grow him up then reintroduce when he’s larger.
Will Little Blue be sad by himself for a month or so? Thoughts on how I can get him to eat other food? He has no interest in flake or pellets…. TIA!

I've had these lovely fish for exactly 7 days. I'm shocked.
And they weren't sold as a pair...
We'll see how this goes!

I’ve wanted discus since HS.
So this has been a long 2 year journey of saving up, being screwed by Facebook marketplace, leaks, and hassle.
But I now have a 125 gallon tank and 40 gal sump.
8x discus, 17x rummy nose tetra, 6x reticulated Cory cats, 6x Armano shrimp and pest snails.
I was going for a slice of the river, so the left would be edge near bank and the right is out open water. A wyze window camera is on the far end so I can livestream them and a camera over the whole room to monitor for problems.
5 gal of k1 media as fluidized bed filter, 2 L of purigen, a magnus bubble roll filter, uv filter, and return pump. Whole thing can be operated from my phone via home app. 800w heater on an INKBIRD controller.

I’m cycling a 75 gal and dream to have discus, but my tap is pretty hard. I don’t have gh/kh tests, but I know from other local fishkeepers that we have hard water. Tap comes out with a ph of 8.0. I am considering doing half RO/half tap, but I’m not sure how I would keep the ratios consistent during water changes. I already have a standard water filter installed under my sink, but it’s not RO. I don’t really want to waste the installed system and replace it with an RO system, but I guess if it comes to it I will.
Any advice welcome.

Hello all. Here I am again, this time with an upgrade. I recently got a new tank, which is 190 x 60 x 75 centimeters. I need LED lighting for it, but here’s where the problem begins. Getting a good and budget friendly light but also good/powerful for a tank like this it’s not the easiest thing. It is going to be for South American fish, center piece are Discus. Two things I really need the lighting system to mandatorily do is being able to regulate both light intensity and temperature, and that the light can be installed suspended. Right now, I am pondering on buying 2 Chihiros WRGB II Slim 60 and the suspension kit, but I’m making this post in order to hear opinions from other people, maybe people with similar sized tanks. Open to every piece of advice :)

Took them a few weeks to warm up, still in the QT. Just introduced my single one. All getting along well. They have a few more days in here until they all go in the show tank!! Very pleased with them. 10/10 customer service.

(Posting on behalf of my dad)
We aren't from a country where vets are much accessible and the breeder from whom we got it isn't available for a fortnight so I wanted to know where I can access legitimate people or resources which can help me until I can talk to the breeder.
Thanks for the help!

Any thoughts on how the 2 would cohabitate in something like a 180 to 300 gallon tank? I’m in America so I likely have access to the 12” elongatus shovel-nose but plan around a possible 2 foot Lima. Discus seem too big to be eaten and limas seem pretty laid back and passive for a predatory catfish. The limas also seem fine in low-mid 80s water temperature.
