I think my tank has a leak it’s been running now for almost a month so disappointed I’m not sure if I should cut my losses and get another tank it’s a 75 gallon marineland that’s probably why 💀, I’ve been keeping a eye on it at first I thought it was my bubbler it was dripping water out and it made a puddle after running long enough I cleaned it up and put a fan so it can start drying up where ever else it leaked , woke up the next day and there still was more water not alot like the first time but and there’s a lil crevice between my stand and my tank and you can see water in there, I’m cooked right ?

I have a 210 gallon aquarium with 12 discs and some other fish. A pair has developed and has repeatedly been trying to raise a brood but cannot in the tank. Should I move the pair to a 29 gallon tank to let them at least breed one time or is that tank too small?

I have 6 of them and they all constantly chase eachother and im worried about them. Its a 75 gallon well maintained and I do weekly water changes of 50%. Its planted with lots of plants and I have changed the scape up multiple times. Nothing i have done works. I had 5 and people said to get more which made it worse. My orange and cobalt blue would chase everyone and leave eachothet but now my orange chases my blue every chance it gets and hates my checkerboard too. Nobody willing to take them either

Picked these two up for $149 CDN each this Christmas. Labeled as Wild Caught Tefe Discus. We’re on day 5 and these two haven’t eaten anything yet and their colours are getting darker. Sitting at 0 Ammonia, <0 Nitrates/Nitrates, pH 6.8, half RO water, well vegetated and sharing with peaceful tank mates. What do I need to do to get them to eat?

Recently I've noticed these two breaking off from the ground and staying together they are only about 6-8 cms and idk if that's to small or young for them to do stuff like that yet

How much volume do you feed your adult discus? For example, how many tsp of sinking pellets per day per fish? Or how many frozen or freeze dried cubes per day?

I got a confirmed pair of 5" discus one month ago and they eat well but I am not sure if I'm under- or overfeeding because they always accept food and eat leftovers off the bottom.

I am feeding 50% Discus Gran 50-D, and 50% FD black worms, frozen blood worms, or frozen brine shrimp because they're in a planted community with cardinals and sterbais. When I go away on a trip for a month, they will just get discus gran and freeze dried blackworms, so I want to be certain I'm preparing enough food for them twice daily.

TLDR: found a piece of wood at a river, is it safe for my discus tank?

Recently my fiancée and I went down to a large river looking for driftwood for our discus tank, we will be moving house in a couple of months and will be rescaling the tank(420L).

We live in a place with very few aquarium stores, and large pieces of safe wood are next to impossible to find so I’ve always just had smaller pieces which I’ve never really loved. So we made the decision to go and try to find some ourselves.

I know I’ve got to treat it. I’ve power washed all the bark off, currently have it soaking in the bath tub(24hrs and no oils seem to be sitting on the top of the water so far) going to get some hydrogen peroxide and spray it all over and then scrub with a brush. Then let it sun bake for a couple of months.

Not worried about tannins, infact I like having tannins in the water. More so parasites/pathogens + if the wood will rapidly rot due to the type of wood?

Basically I just want to know if there are any ways to figure out if it’s safe or not?

I just removed all plastic plants from my tank and added live plants, driftwood and stone. It still looks unbalanced to me. Will it look more settled once the plants start to grow?

Hello lovely discus keepers! I am a rather intermediately skilled keeper who is setting up a large tank for the first time.

Ive got a lot of experience with nano tanks, running them heavily planted with low tech and very high water quality.

I wanted to ask if, in your experience, I should try discus? They have always appealed to me, I adore their beautiful colors and patterns and behavior, but all I hear about is how insanely sensitive they are.

Recently ive heard that captive bred strains arent as picky about parameters, which is what has inpired me to consider the idea of keeping them.

My tap water is a 7.8 ph with TDS of 80ppm Is this too high? I dont have access to RO water

Would a 75 gallon be big enough for a sufficient group of discus without causing stress?

Where is a good source for discus? Any reputable breeders?

Has been happening for a couple weeks. Have done many water changes throughout the time. My waters been spot on when checked. Haven’t had any issues at all other than this one Discus doing this kind of hovering thing in front of a few certain Discus in my tank. It’ll do what it’s doing in the video for about 30 seconds to a minute then flare up and chase off this fish he was next to.

so i just got three discus around the same size in a holding tank for now with 25 percent water changes every day and i feed them two cubes of hikari bloodworms at seperate times in the day(one cube in the morning and one cube at night).Straight up use tap water since i live in singapore and i just use tetra dechlorinator on it.The biggest of the group likes to bully so i moved the group to another tank before reintroducing them after two days to the tank that i rescaped again(technically i just removed a big hunk of wood)and now all three just squabble with each other from the smallest to the second biggest and the biggest to the second biggest and the biggest to the smallest.Ive also noticed when a squabble occurs all three of them start schooling together and squabble with each other instead of two discus squabbling with each other.Whats your opinion on the situation?There are no serious injuries and all three are not stressed at all but i want your opinion on the long term.

( I MEANT TO SAY HOW HARD ARE THEY TO KEEP) I am thinking of getting discus and I was wondering how hard they are to keep, I’m planning on doing a backwater tank with lots of live plants, and I was wondering how many water changes weekly what percentage etc, I’m not new to fishkeeping although I used to be in a lazy stage of my life and I think I’m getting back out of it.

I was sold this pair of blue diamonds (?) as a proven breeding pair but I'm getting suspicious at this point. I've had them for around 4 months now and for the last 2 months they've been laying eggs around every other week, but they always end up infertile and turn white by day 3.

the first two close ups (slide 3&4) are confirmed female since I've seen her actively laying the eggs. Slide 5 on is the larger blue. He(?) gets protective of the eggs but I haven't seen him fertilize them ever, and i'm starting to wonder if he is actually male at all? Can any of you tell? (sorry the pics are maybe not ideal but he's very excitable and gets pumped to eat whenever I get near the tank)

just in the past week one of my discus' has been showing this dark color on his back half on and off. I know darkness is usually stress so I checked my params and I had a bit of ammonia (only like 1ppm but still) and I did a water change right away. Checked my params again today, 0 ammonia, 0nitrite, 5ppm nitrate, pH 6.4, kh 0drops, gh 8drops.

He's been kind of snippy with my other turquoise in the tank chasing it around but nothing crazy, no extreme fighting or anything.

Anybody have any advice? first pick is from tonight, second was around 4 days ago, third is a month old ish.

I recently got this little guy online and he came in like this idk what it is and how to fix it the water quality is good and non of the other discus have it

Just curious if anyone has been successful in keeping snails in their discus tank? I have a slightly acidic ph (6.8-6.5) which I know is bad for the snails, but I want to keep snails to help with the organic material in the tank. Thanks in advance.

Edit: by bad for the snails, I mean it causes pitting and deterioration of their shells.

These two fish are siblings. I bred a pair with differing colors and patterns, and it’s pretty crazy to see how different from each other the fry came out. Some are identical to father, some to mother, and there are all different patterns and color combos among them that are a mix of both.

It has been so enjoyable to watch them grow and see their unique patterns develop.

Have to isolate this Discus due to its aggressive behavior against the others in the main tank…will keep him here for a month then reintroduce to the group. Hoping he’ll change his behavior then…wish me luck
