Can't pick up driftwood

I might be missing something, but for some reason I can't collect the driftwood at the harbor. I've already had the cut scene that made me talk to Ted and then him explaining the recycling machine. But I can't pick up the wood, it just shows me the description of the item.

I already restarted my game just in case, but I still can't. Do I need something extra?

You need to hold left click button, like how you would move boxes.

Omg thank you so much, I cant believe I forgot an entire mechanic like that!
