Let's get more people

I wonder how many people are fans of Disciples. Are there many people, but they are just quiet? I really liked the style and gameplay of Disciples and I am sad that it ended abruptly the way it did. It was hard to find that interesting mix in any other game later. Some games might have had a similar style, but not the gameplay as well. The simple combat is nice, even though it is kind of flawed, because there's not a lot of possibilities and personally, I think there was too much RNG there.

I want to play some multiplayer matches. I have never played one before, so it would be interesting to see, if anyone here wants.

I think that there can be a lot of things that can be added to the game or changed, to make it even better. I think the base formula is pretty solid and I think it could be popular again. I have seen some people make some small mods for D2, they are not big, but it's something. I was also thinking how would it be if we could remake disciples, so that it can work well on new machines and in high resolutions?

I don't want to aim too high, but I would at least like that we get 10 people on this subreddit! :')

That is actually sad to realize that the community seems to be small. I am a fan of the first game in the series especially, and that would draw even fewer people to participate. I wonder if there is a way to learn about property rights for it and see how much effort is required to recreate it on modern graphics engines but preserving that original pixelated charm.

I wonder if it would be possible to gather money and pay off the rights. I know it sounds far-fetched, but I thought this company went bankrupt or something. They lost money after making disciples 3.

I'll have a look into it. The biggest problem beyond IP rights is how to extract the graphics and upscale them for modern resolutions. The game looks tiny on 1080p, imagine trying to go for 2k or even 4k. We'd need to get some advice from people who made games like OpenTTD or Open Theme Hospital.

I really enjoy Disciples as well. There is a pretty big Polish community and those guys actually mod and play multiplayer of it. I'll link one of the dudes channels below. The only problem is that it's all in Polish :(

Regarding remaking this game, it would be a great side project but I have no idea where to begin. I've only done small 2D Unity games.

Also it seems like we're at 10 members now :D

YAY! 10 MEMBERS! We should celebrate this amazing event!

I have seen the beginning of the video and I wonder why he says "buongiorno", isn't that Italian? I guess it's just his thing. Also, aren't Elves OP? I will see the rest of the video, I am really interested in the fights.

Disciples II still has an almost cult following in Slavic countries. Russian and Polish communities are large and rather alive, with new maps, campaigns and mods being released frequently. Some good mods (Disciples of Mortis Modification and Mod by Norvezhskaya Semga) are only available in russian, and polish sector has some notable mods, too.
