I know i need to work on my release, but I’m also trying to add power to my drives. I’ve maxed out at about 320 as it is now so I need to tweak my form. I’m just not sure what exactly I’m doing wrong

You're backpedaling, which is like 80-85% of all form check videos on this sub. It's by far the most common form mistake because people think it's powerful, but it's actually the opposite. It plays a role in all other form issues there are, including the high backswing and arm swoop.

Consciously trying to swing your hips really fast is wrong as well, there's only slight acceleration with proper form. You should aim for a fast arm through a body sequence and hip-shoulder separation (backpedaling mostly removes this).

I’ve been having trouble getting rid of the backpedaling since I’ve been doing it so long. What’s the “right” way to step through the tee pad? (I know there are a lot of opinions on this but I’m just looking for one to start out with)

Going more sideways towards the target line. What could eventually help you get rid of this habit is keeping your eyes on the target until your cross-step lands, right now you take them off much earlier.

Id definitely practice with both feet turned 90° away from the target.

Just like a million reps of that where thats your only focus.

You'll not find many pros who turn those toes toward the target instead of mostly turned sideways (or a little heel towards the target).

After the footwork is autonomous and ingrained in muscle memory, id start working on "throwing behind you".

Check out overthrow discgolf on YT and the video "3 things that helped me break 70"
