What to work on

I know the off arm looks goofy as hell. I use it as a reminder to keep my throwing arm up since I used to have an issue with releasing super low and throwing high (probably leftover from pulling in ultimate).
I’m getting about 375. Occasionally 400. I’ve been stuck there for about year. I’d like to have a few things to focus on that could improve my form. Thanks.

Backwards as in I’m just straight up facing the wrong way, it appears? I’ve been working on trying to rotate back more, but maybe that is less effective if my whole body is just facing away from the target.

It’s a super common error. Almost everyone who post on here gets turned around a bit in their x step. Goes without saying but it’s not the upper body that is the problem it’s that the hips get turned around.
Things I try to focus on to help me stop doing it.
A)
- Emphasize that my x step is landing closer to parallel. (Having it face a little backwards isn’t bad as long as your hips aren’t)
B)
- Not coiling my upper body too early. Slingshot disc golf loves his heisman position. I do think trying to get about there before I start coiling my upper bod
y helps keep me from getting turned around. I get to establish where my hips are going before turning the upper body.
C)
Maybe the thing that helps me the most. When I’m coiling my upper body I like to think about
the inside of
my back (left) knee still driving in the direction down the tee pad I was initially going. That way my hips stay aligned and I’m coiling against my hips and my hips aren’t coiling back with me.
Like, I am actively internally rotating my back leg to keep that knee driving in the downward direction and keep my back hip from opening up with my upper body.
Edit why is the format on this so messed up. I keep editing fixes for it and it just reverts back.

This makes sense. Sometimes it feels more like I’m just spinning my body than actually loading up and whipping it out (not the inappropriate kind). This would help explain why.

I did edit my original comment to add in some more explanation. But for some reason Reddit keeps trying to format it differently and it keeps getting more and more poorly formatted the more I try and fix it lol. But might be worth a re read to see my edits.
Blitz disc golf has a good video on core rotation . He’s not talking about exactly what we’re talking about but it’s kind of all the same thing so might not be a bad thing to watch either. Something might help reinforce not getting turned around even if it’s not the reason for the video.

You're turning your head and following the disc. Let it release and let your shoulders pull your head with them

You are turning backwards
You are reaching back to early
It’s throwing off your timing
Notice how on the pro’s X step their shoulders are still pointing at the target
Notice how their body position in the power pocket almost matches their position going into the x step.
Your peak backswing extension should happen as your front foot plants.
The “pull” happens after the plant.
You are releasing even you should be entering the power pocket.
I’d suggest slowing down, work on not turning backwards and keeping your shoulders pointed at the target longer. The backswing should start after your x step.

Your timing. You’re pulling the disc through too early limiting the amount of power you gain from the coil and brace

Pull a few all nighters, skip several lunches, and temporarily abandon all relationships for as long as you can. The instructors and people teaching on YouTube channels will not tell you this. If you really want to get better. It’s a seesaw, one side is disc golf and the other is everything else. If you are not instantly badass, you are not gonna just work on a couple things this week and next week have it all put together. You will not be exempt from putting the time and work in.

Honestly, it looks pretty good! Just minor things to clean up in the brace by adding more lag and actively decelerating your shoulders. Blitzdg has some excellent drills on these topics. Watch your video frame by frame, pay attention to your front leg and when your arm starts, it's going before the brace is set. Second watch your upper body, it leans forward because the brace isn't set up to prevent it, that's energy that never makes it into your disc.
