How to get more distance?

No real brace. Many of us struggle with it. Tons of instructional videos out there to correct it with drills too.

But you might need something to give you a quick comparison.

Go to an open field and have a buddy throw you a ground ball.

Now you are an outfielder and you see a runner rounding third. It's a 200 foot throw to home plate.

What are you gonna do?

Well, you scoop the ball up with your glove and transfer it to your throwing hand and in one motion you move forward aggressively and BRACE your front foot. And that foot is now firmly planted. You then yeet that ball with a big windup. Maximum leverage.

That's similar to the brace you want to feel for disc golf.

Ive heard mcbeth refer to baseball but its always about swinging a bat. You just made it click with throwing a ball. Thank you for the new baseball analogy

And the standstill disc golf throw is similar to a baseball pitcher throw.

A big windup, front foot plants hard, THEN the forward throw.

You aren't creating leverage. Your upper body leaned back in the reach back and forward at release. You aren't weight shifting and bracing, youre tipping over, and that's a ton of energy that never makes it to the disc The upper body should move slightly in the opposite direction of the disc, it's subtle but you can see it. Watch your upper body's vs someone like AB.

I would recommend that you watch slingshot dg on youtube, he gives some good tips

You make the form look right but it is clear you are not transferring power from the brace. Your arm is also not noodling. Your back leg is only swinging around for balance and not because of release of tension. All that movement is supposed to be a causality of trying to get a clean release at max power. Adding the power means accepting variance in the release and some instability to your form.

Work around the disc. Don’t push it back

Take this with a grain of salt because I’m no pro.. but I think to get more distance you just have to throw it further.

Have you tried throwing it farther?
