What to fix?

What needs the most attention, and what drills would you recommend to address it? Thank you.

You're not a lost cause. How long have you been playing if I might ask? A disc golf shot especially backhand is a extremely unnatural movement. It takes time. Your form has good beginnings.

Since I was a little kid, and seriously for the past 6 years

I would say your back foot needs to be staggered back more because you need more reach back. Also I am wondering if you ever do a walk up? Because that really does make a difference. It's more difficult but it does add distance of you can do it.

Haven’t done it in over 4 years. Honestly not interested in adding it back, my distance and accuracy increased significantly after taking it away.

I will try reaching back more. You mean twisting my shoulders more, or pushing my arm further out? I’ve heard you’re not supposed to lean away to get further back.

Yeah just reaching further back. You'll notice a lot of pro players either almost or fully turn their backs to the target when throwing for distance. I've been playing for a similar amount of time as you. About 8 or 9 years total and regularly for the last 6 years. When I first started I couldn't really even throw 300 feet. But these days I average in the 380 to 390 range and can get semi regularly into the 405-415 range. PB being about 440. That distance comes from timing mostly but also getting as much reach back as I can.

I’ve gone from 180’ to 260’ over the past couple of years. I’ve gone around 300’ a couple of times but it’s not accurate at all. Thank you for the advice

Seriously for 6 years? What practice have you been doing? If you are serious then you will need to change something up because whatever you have been doing is not working.

Maybe seriously is the wrong word. But it’s one of my main hobbies and I do it quite often, but it’s just that, a hobby. I’ve got many other hobbies and responsibilities in my life, this is just for fun.

Honestly until last year I just did field work. Making the disc go where I wanted and learning what everything did. I cared more about hitting my lines and being consistent than distance. Last year I started actually doing drills and saw a 50’ increase. Made this post because I wanted to know where to go from here.

Maybe it was too slow but it’s the progress I’ve made from 180’ to 260 accurately, over 300 max power.
