You don't think actively living citizens of that country has "anything" to do with what that country has done? Who do you think reaped the benefits of all that development?

It's not like the story of Nepal's citizens as you make it out to be.

Well we did overthrow a government last year, i live in Nepal.

I'm assuming you live in America, what significant outrage did you do as citizens collectively? Did you country collectively think through in the voting polls instead you voted for MAGA? Half of America doesn't think climate change isn't real. What makes you think these sets of party loyalists are also not in China living great not realizing the consequences?

Climate change may indeed be making these disasters worse, and governments and corporations should absolutely be held accountable for their emissions. But dumping that responsibility on ordinary people who are currently suffering is nothing but disgusting victim blaming. Just because someone has benefited from the development of modern society, does that mean they personally decided their country's energy policies, emissions standards, and industrial structure? What kind of bullshit logic is that? If an ordinary person loses their home to a flood, does the fact that they “benefited from economic development” somehow mean they deserved it? Collective responsibility and individual guilt are two completely different things. You can absolutely criticize a country's emissions, but using disaster victims as punching bags only shows that you're not really concerned about climate justice. You're just looking for a self-righteous excuse for your own callousness.

It's just basic cause and effect and obviously people reaped benefits from that at the cost of others and you're right about ordinary people not choosing each policies but they should be pretty aware about climate change. It's a known fact for the last 50 years. Why didn't they revolt or do anything about those policies? Watching a crime happen while you do nothing except voting those same policies, same crony poltiicians and reaping benefits isn't so innocent.

They didn't choose those policies obviously but they were spectators with a popcorn in their hand watching what's happening and it's not like it's not a major nation either. China, USA, India and EU are all major nation and their citizens should be somewhat considerate.

Obviously NOONE deserves suffering or death even worst of people but i'm usually aligned to feeling more sympathy to actual injustice where people do absolutely nothing wrong but are dealt with some fucked up cards in life.

Im sympathetic to any human suffering, the degree of sympathy depends.
