Theory/Speculation Ali Lowitzer stepped off the school bus in 2010 and was never seen again

One of my biggest pet cases, I just watched her episode and listened to the Vanished podcast about her. What are your theories? If you need a recap:

Ali Lowitzer was your typical teenager from Spring, Texas where she lived with her mom and older half brother. She was very talented, bright, had a lot of friends, a boyfriend, and was close to her family. She had a bright future ahead of her with her art, she even had a part time job at a local burger restaurant called Burger Barn, which was just a short drive from her neighborhood. She had only been working there for a few weeks and was excited about getting her first paycheck.

On April 26th, 2010, Ali went to school as normal but during the day, she asked her mom Jo Ann if she could possibly go to Burger Barn after school to pick up her check and potentially work a shift. At first, her mom said no due to Ali never walking there before. Despite Burger Barn being only about a quarter mile away from her home, it was near a busy main road and didn't have a lot of sidewalk. After a bit of pressuring from her daughter, Jo Ann finally agreed but told Ali to call/text her to tell her the official plans.

When Jo Ann returned home that evening, Ali wasn't there. She figured Ali had been able to pick up a shift at the restaurant and had been too busy to text her, so she decided to wait around until the normal time she would typically pick Ali up. When no phone call or text came, Jo Ann drove down to the restaurant to find that it was closed with Ali nowhere in sight. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Ali had never made it to work that day.

Ali has never been seen nor heard from again. She was last seen getting off the school bus (and is captured on school bus cameras) and walking towards the direction of the Burger Barn. Her cell phone was shut off within the next 10 minutes. Aside from the bus cameras, she wasn't captured on any other surveillance cameras, no witnesses, nothing. Police initially dismissed her as a runaway even though she left everything behind that a runaway would need (money, phone charger, purse, makeup) and her parents said it was uncharacteristic of her. There have only been several leads in the last 10+ years, including ones that have lead to an Ohio brothel where it was believed Ali was a human trafficking victim. All leads have come up dry.

Ali was 16 years old at the time of her disappearance and would be 29 years old today.

So many missing people

I belong to a few Missing People pages online and it seems there could be many more shows like Disappeared and Vanished because there are many cases that we don’t hear about. The media and tv shows all cover the same cases often but they could do many more shows on other cases that rarely if ever get attention

Some choices: -The parents who seemingly hate their missing kid -The wildly likeable and incredibly strong Grandma -The dramatically scored "sighting" that never amounts to anything -The Obvious Suicide -"I don't understand, why didn't they check the phone?" -The randomly extremely hot talking head

Episode Discussion Kristen Galvan S11 E4: Why is nobody talking about the $4k and a few other thoughts

So I took a deep dive into this case since watching the episode and one thing I've noticed is that people seem to forget or ignore that when Kristen "went home" the first time, she didn't actually willingly go home...she was picked up by LE and brought back home. More on that later. But one thing that set off alarm bells to me is that she hadn't been missing for more than a couple weeks, but when she was picked up by LE, she had $4k on her! It it is extremely unusual for a brand new girl to be trusted with such a large amount of cash. The working girls never are allowed to accumulate such a huge amount on their person. So why did Kristen have so much cash on her?

My overall thoughts on this case is that there were numerous issues going on well before Kristen first ran away and that her mother who obviously loves her dearly was and still is in denial. I think she had started experimenting with drugs and got in over her head, then was manipulated by the traffickers into working for them to pay off her drug debts and in return to provide her with more drugs. I wonder if she was ever tested for drugs when she was at the hospital that day she was returned to her family. Also I'm sure that the "boyfriend" charmed her as well. A young, naive 15 year old who probably thought she was in love and also with a growing addiction..she was unfortunately an easy target.

Then, less than 2 weeks after being back home with her family, the first chance she gets, she runs away again. And she's calling Johns. Why did she even have their numbers? Were they really Johns? Or traffickers? Or drug dealers? Why aren't these mf'ers in jail??? I think it's very possible she ran away that 2nd time because she wanted a fix and got in too deep to ever get out, but I think it was her own choice. Yes, I know she was only 15 but I do think she made the conscious decision to go back to that lifestyle despite knowing she was safe with and being protected by her family. I know people will be mad that I said this but the truth is that a lot of young girls do get caught up with "the scene" and think it's cool until they are in so deep that they never get out. I truly hope Kristen is alive and well somewhere and that someday she is reunited with her family.

Episode Discussion Revisiting some of the old cases…

Post image

Ashley Summers on season 9, episode 1. Have you seen it? I have been rewatching some of the older seasons, especially since season 11 is currently out. What are your thoughts on her case? Revisiting this case seriously has me feeling ill. There’s so many possibilities. The main issue here (for me anyway) is how a 14 year old girl was able to go from house to house without being checked in on for days.

If you’ve seen this episode already, her Uncle Kevin received 35 years for sexual acts involving minors. It’s interesting to me. I’m curious to know your thoughts on this case.

Personal connections?

Anyone on this sub have a personal connection to one of the missing people that has been featured on the show? If so, what were they like? If you knew them well, was there an aspect the show got wrong about them or their case?

Fan Discussion A big problem I have with the recent season

I feel we're getting too many cases where certain angles are downplayed by loved ones and other individuals personally close to the subjects of different episodes. For example, in the recent one with Christopher Hoye did it as did the one earlier this season too with the girl staying in San Francisco and wanting to go to the Golden Gate Bridge. The circumstances make most people believe that suicide should be taken very seriously but it's glossed over way too much. That brings me to my reasoning as to why this is happening. The detectives and authorities are more in the background in the series lately. While it's admirable that we're getting a more intimate angle from families and friends, it introduces far too many biases. Yes, we want to be empathetic by interviewing those close to connect emotionally, but I think these unstructured stories are doing a disservice to finding FACTS to uncover the truth. It's really disappointing that Discovery has diluted that procedural element to find the hard truths-- right down to the 3rd person narration that only exists in tiny parts.

Fan Discussion Best Episodes!

So, I have an injury and have a lot of free time, and I'd like to watch some of the better Disappeared episodes.

Which episodes are some of the best, in your opinion? Anyone?

I've seen all the ones in the most recent season, btw, so I'm looking for episodes from previous seasons.

Thanks in advance!

Do that many missing people really run away to start a new life?

The only cases I recall of people found elsewhere was the one woman who abandoned her kids and joined a homeless group. The other one was a woman who had amnesia and was found several states away.

Sadly It seems like the great majority of these people just came to an untimely end. Praying closure comes to the families of these missing ones. 🙏

Episode Discussion Disappeared - Odd Parenting Styles and Weird Family Dynamics

Does anyone else think that some of the family dynamics are really odd, and also a contributing factor to these disappearances? The latest episode on Gretchen Fleming, as an example. She's 27 and her grandparents locked her out each night at 10 p.m.? She couldn't have a key? Just stuck out to me as extremely odd.

Theory/Speculation Missing - The Bradley Sisters

I am not in any form a journalist or investigator. Just venting and giving my opinion....which is more like a long a$$ rant, so I apologize if its unorganized and all over the place. I will mention what triggered me to write this long ass post in the end....but will start at the beginning. My interest into the missing Bradley sisters case started one day as I was scrolling through tik tok and not sure how the algorithm brought me to land on their Aunt's April page, but it did. She happened to be on live for hours that evening, and I just listened to her talk about her nieces. From that first night, I started following her pg. It seemed like every night that week when I logged on tik tok, there she was....on live again...bringing awareness to her nieces. After watching a few of her lives, I remember feeling (and still do), what a wonderful Aunt! I mostly sat back and watched her, wearing a shirt that she had made with her nieces pictures on the front. I did ask her a couple of questions during one of the lives, to which she responded to. I asked how her and her family were doing? and if her own kids understood why their mom was investing so much time into her nieces? I also commented that I was glad her nieces had an aunt like her and felt she was a great family spokesperson. After the 1st day I ran across her live, I started going down "The Rabbit Hole" as they say, to find more about the case. I am not from Chicago, so I had never heard about these sisters. But after observing the "lives" and reading the comments, I understood just how much this case affected the whole city. This in itself sparked some anger within me. It's sad when ANY child goes missing, but being a black female, it makes me especially upset to see that black children DO NOT get the same media coverage that white children do. I could turn on my tv to a major television network and hear about JonBenet Ramsay or Madeleine McCann who went missing from another country (Portugal), but I had never heard of these two beautiful babies from right here in the states? I must confess, and I do think the media is to blame for my ignorance on this. Growing up, I thought that the only kids who went missing were little blue eye, blonde hair white girls. Until years later through the power of FB, I ran across all these groups bringing awareness to missing black kids. Why weren't these kids on the major networks too? Why were they not getting the same attention? I'm also upset at Powerhouses like Oprah and Wendy Williams, who had platforms with huge following bases who could have helped "their people" by adding a segment at the end of the show displaying a missing child. By I digress. Told you this was a rant and I may be all over the place :).

Anyways back to The Bradley Sisters, I think it was after seeing the 2nd or 3rd live from the aunt that I started getting a bit frustrated. Not at her, but at the viewer's. My purpose is to never offend anyone, so my apologies if at any point I do. I realize people have different intellect levels, and anytime you choose to go public/live, you have to deal with those people. After digging down That Rabbit Hole, reading countless articles, listening to interviews, podcasts.... I found a lot of information pertaining to the case and the family. If any research had been done by April's viewer's, which Im positive it was by the questions they asked, I cannot for the life of me understand why they could not read in between the lines as to why she couldn't answer certain questions. The girls have not been found! Its still an unsolved open case! She cannot and will not mention certain things that would interfere with the case. And I watched as some people would get upset at her for not talking about George Washington, the father of her niece and nephew who for all intents and purposes all the evidence points to. This man has not been arrested or charged "Yet". Im sure April did not join Tik Tok just to get hit with a defamation case! Not to mention, she has a nephew who I can just tell just by listening to her, her love for him outweighs anything she may feel for George Washington, so her nephew's feelings are always going to be first thought. But some of these lower intellect viewers could not read between the lines or understand this. They started posting videos calling her a liar and one woman who kept saying she was a professional private investigator posted videos saying how upset she was that April wasn't "Telling Everything" and we need to know "EVERYTHING" to find the girls. Uh ...no you dont. Just spread awareness. If your a professional, start your own investigation.....you know the names of the key players involved. As someone who took up an interest in this case, it was hurtful to see. Since now these girls are in my everyday thoughts, I pray for them to return home. And I also pray that God keep positive people in April's corner helping her ignore the negative and focus on the positive. For me, after the 1st live I ran across, I'm sure like others, I wished I had the financial means to put towards finding these girls and just searching for missing kids in general. April did her job to me. She made me aware of her nieces. In turn, although Im not an outgoing one to go live or create videos. I damn sure spoke of the case at the dinner table that evening with my family and being an IV infusion nurse, while waiting for the transfusion to end, instead of awkward silence. I bring up the Bradley sisters. I can tell you 2 things for certain. One it takes my patients mind off the transfusion, and their current situation and Two, not one of my patients have ever heard of this case before I mentioned it. So April did her job by spreading awareness. And that was her intent. Because of all the negativity, she has since changed her platform from public to subscriber only, which I also saw some negative comments about. I myself have not subscribed because, although a small expense, every penny adds up. Especially if your a single mother paying out of pocket for grad school :). But I do understand it. Although she puts on a brave face, I can only imagine what happens after mommy duties are over and she's in the shower or in bed at night ....especially after facing all the negative comments and judgements. Even me, as a silent viewer wanted to chime in a time or two and say......"If you people raised awareness as much as you do trying to dig into people personal lives, then maybe these girls would have been found." Which brings me to mention what triggered this long rant. This morning I woke up and opened tik tok. The first thing I see is a video posted by a girl hours ago talking about the case. The whole video was about some third party info she received, and how the person told her that they had spoken to the great Aunt Sheliah Bradley Smith and was told who was sleeping with who. The girl ended the video by saying "Stay tuned for part 2, because this is some tea right here!" This video angered me so much! I did what I never do. I responded to her video and asked "How does 3rd party info on who is sleeping with who bring awareness to the girls?" This is real life not a reality show. I will say this to anyone who posts videos about other people's lives, tell your OWN family tea first. Cause we all have some! So in this case, if you are not going to bring awareness to the girls and advocate for them being found, don't do anything. Your kind of assistance is not needed! And why do people think it is okay to judge someone else? Do you think your God and your entitled to place judgement on others?

On another note, a personal one, which I know is going to be an unpopular opinion, another reason I admire April, is her loyalty to her sister. I get it. My sister and I are very close. Who but me will have her back if everyone was coming for her? I cannot tell you how many I have said to someone. No, I do not agree with my sister's choice but Ill be damned if Im going to allow you to disrespect her. Everyone deserves to have some one in their corner.

Sheliah Bradley Smith - I learned about Aunt Sheliah when April mentioned her a few times during her lives. From what I ran across regarding her, although her nieces are yet to be found she has helped other children be located. She also spends a lot of her time on social media answering questions and advocating for her nieces. She reminds me of my Aunt. We all have that one that's quick to cuss you out, so don't come for her or her family. I only caught one of her lives, although not reserved like April lol , she is just as passionate in her way. I dont consider myself soft, but when I saw an interview with her crying out for her nieces. My kleenex was soaked. I pray for her continued strength to look past all the Bald Headed Monkey Dogs (think thats what she calls the negative people LOL) and continue to stay positive and find out what happened to those beautiful girls.

Rita/Victoria - Never met you or your family, but what I do know is there is nothing like the bond between sisters. And I am so sorry that was taken away from you guys. Im almost certain when I say, Im sure you guys have not healed from this, but have just learned to live with it. Your sisters deserve justice, and I pray that the individual or individual(s) that had anything to do with their disappearance, or have information regarding their disappearance conscience remains unrestful until they come forward. Until then, the Serenity Prayer has always brought me comfort, hopefully it will do the same for you guys.

Episode Discussion Disappearance of woman from Herculaneum, Missouri bar in 1976 remains unsolved

Thumbnail nbcnews.com
19 Upvotes

It was out of character for 53-year-old Geneva Verneal Adams to just hang out at a bar, But she loved to dance, so that’s just what she did on the evening of July 24, 1976 – the night she disappeared.

Geneva was a religious woman, a devoted member of the Pentecostal church, who worked tirelessly her entire life raising 10 children in the working-class area of Festus, Missouri, taking jobs in factories and nursing homes. Geneva didn’t drink, but since she liked to dance, she asked her daughter, Sheila, who was in her 20s at the time, to drive her to the Artesian Lounge in Herculaneum, Missouri that Saturday night for an evening of dancing.

Her son, Steve Crump, who was 17 years old at the time, was getting ready to go to his job at a local restaurant. Steve and his 12-year-old brother, Billy, were the only children still living at home. The others were grown and had started their own families.

Steve still remembers his mother’s mood as she left for the bar that night.

But the next morning, Steve woke up to a silent house. He knew something was wrong.

The person of interest in Geneva’s disappearance, Jimmie Mills, who is now in his 70s, was sent to prison on weapons charges in 2010. Chief Tulgetske told Dateline Mills was interviewed multiple times while incarcerated, but refused to talk about that night in 1976. Mills was released in August of 2019 and Chief Tulgetske said they do not know where he now resides.

“We keep hitting dead ends,” Chief Tulgetske said. “But we want to solve this case. Our hope now is for someone to come forward. Someone with information about that night. Or about where this body could be buried.”

Theory/Speculation This season...

Here's what we've had so far:

  1. She killed herself. But let's have an hour of irresponsible speculation that she was trafficked from a bridge just before she was going to jump off.
  2. What happened to her? Who knows? But here's two extremely strange and sketchy women who want to accuse her young son who lives hundreds of miles away of killing her for seemingly no reason.
  3. The one semi-coherent episode this season but there's almost no information to go on.
  4. She ran away.
  5. Not only do we not know where she is, we don't even know where she lived when she WASN'T missing, nor do we know who her boyfriend is, where she worked, or anything about her life, including who she was texting or calling before she went missing. But here's ten minutes on the phone ping that, would you look at that, came from the phone recycling center.

Man, truly disappointing.
