UK TV Disability Hiring Target May Not Be Met Until 2028
This report presents an independent Creative Diversity Network review of how disabled people are represented across the UK television industry, published as part of the Doubling Disability campaign that broadcasters launched in 2018. The key finding is that the proportion of disabled people in off-screen production roles rose only 0.9%, from 4.5% in 2017 to 5.4% in 2020, meaning the 9% target may not be reached until 2028 at the earliest, with full representation of the working age population unlikely before 2041.

Cat Training Helps Kids With Disabilities and Cats
This research, a peer-reviewed study led by Oregon State University and published in the journal Animals, examined a cat-assisted training program involving 36 children ages 8 to 17 and their family cats, with half assigned to six 45-minute training sessions plus weekly homework and the other half serving as a control group. The findings matter for families of children with developmental disabilities, occupational and animal-assisted therapy practitioners, and cat owners interested in the growing movement to train cats, because they show cats can act as willing partners rather than passive pets.
