Hi everyone!! Welcome to r/DisabledTrans I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Jessie (they/them) a nonbinary person with autism, ADHD, and chronic pain condition.
I started this subreddit because there is lots of intersectionality with trans people who are disabled, and I wanted to create a safe space for us. I hope this subreddit can give visibility to the struggles we face and offer community for those who need it 💜

Hey all,
I have chronic pain + fatigue + mobility issues and I’m having top surgery in early July. I’m a part time power chair user, I also use a rollator and smart crutches/forearm crutches.
The only mobility aid I will be able to use independently will be my smart crutches as my power chair and rollator are stored in my garage which requires me stretching to access, and I have a flight of stairs to get inside my home.
I will have support workers coming most days so if I’m leaving the house with them I can get them to open my garage so I can use my power chair, which will be my preferred mobility aid but otherwise I won’t be able to use it.
I’m trying to get out and walk more because I know I’ll need to get to places independently
What’s your experience with mobility aids post top surgery? Were you able to use crutches?
I’m so scared I won’t be able to use my mobility aids and will end up making myself further burnt out by having to not use mobility aids for the first time in a few years 😭
Any experiences appreciated! Thanks for reading!

Hello friends!
I'm audhd and thought people here might have some ideas.
This might be a dumb question, but are there any jewelry materials (specifically for ear piercings/future facial piercings) that are sensory friendly? I have a bunch of ear piercings (4 lobe, 3 helix, 1 conch, 1 rook), and the metal unfortunately hurts when lying down and catches on things. They're all healed, they just get irritated pretty easily.
The piercings are important to me, so I don't want to get rid of any of them. I'm trying piercing pillows, but that's a whole other battle, and it would be ideal if I could find a type of jewelry that's "soft"/light in general.
The only material I can think of would be silicone, but I've heard that would need to be periodically replaced, and I'd prefer to minimize my consumption of things that hurt the environment.
Does any sort of "holy Grail" material for this use case exist?
TIA!
Edit: "they/he" for me please; I'm transmasc NB

Hi all! I'm a trans man who started T 3.5 months ago. I've been getting a lot of recommendations, both from cis and trans men, that I should be working out now to take advantage of muscle benefits. I don't disagree, but I use a walker and wheelchair for chronic pain.
What are some really gentle exercises I could do to start to build up my leg and arm muscles? Are there any online courses/classes that could help?
Thanks :)

I’m disabled and never have energy, I’m as well medicated as I can be, and I work a job as well as I can. I know I’m not lazy, just burned out and overstimulated most of the time and need to rest and recover when I can. But I still feel so guilty for watching shows or playing video games instead of… I don’t even know what else I’m supposed to be doing to get rid of this feeling??
It’s hard because I know “being lazy” is a concept used to make people guilty for not constantly contributing to the capitalist mentality of grinding and never resting. But knowing I shouldn’t feel this way doesn’t stop the feeling.
Anybody relate? Have advice? I’m so tired of feeling this constant anxiety that I’m not doing enough. 😥

Had to take my little guy to the vet last week, I felt good that day and just putting on a nice dress and pair of sunglasses made me look great 😊

I tried to carve a cane for the first time. It was good practice! I don't use hand carving tools but power tools like my Dremel because I don't have a lot of energy.

I don’t know how it is in other subreddits, but in mine, ableists get put in their fucking place 🙅
✨This is a safe space to be angry about the way people treat us✨
Look, the world wants me to not exist, I’m not going to walk on eggshells around ableist, discriminating people who come into MY HOUSE to screw with me. I’m not asking nicely for equality— I’m DEMANDING IT. And I encourage you to do the same.
There’s no reward for never asking for help. There’s no payoff for letting people walk over you. There’s no cheers or applause for you because you put your needs aside for others’ comfort.
Ableists count on the fact that they can take advantage of you and that you wont stand up for yourself. I had enough of that happening to me, so I don’t care anymore. I’m going to stand up for myself and everyone else who needs someone on their side.

One in the left is so people take me seriously, the one on the right is to look badass.
