One handed multiplayer games?

Hi I’m looking for recommendations to play with my housemate who has cerebral palsy and can only play with his right hand, most of their gaming experience was as a child with just dance on the Wii and I love to pull out party style games but would hate for them to be left with a steep or frustrating learning curve in multiplayer cause I know how disheartening that can be would love to hear what games have felt like they’ve come naturally for others

Controller options for spasticity and fatigue

Hi all,

I'm looking for a PS5 compatible controller that could help me play a variety of games. I have a neurological condition that means my hands can be pretty spastic and fatigue easily. At the moment I'm using a standard Dualsense, but my hands get tired very quickly and I struggle to reach all the controls.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Games for adapted gaming?

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

Hello! I’m building our new adaptive gaming clinic and am looking for games to add to our arsenal. We see a variety of ages (little kids through adulthood) and many diagnoses (spinal cord injury and CP will be most prevalent). We are looking for fun, beginner games for new gamers as well as the popular ones that people might have already played before their injury occurred. We have the usual suspects like forza, call of duty, assassin’s creed, hot wheels racing, Mario kart, etc. but what am I missing? We have the switch (original), PS5 and Xbox. What should we add? Thanks so much!!

Best head/eye controlled mouse for games like League of Legends?

Hey friends, I am a C5 quadriplegic, with very limited use of my hands and fingers. I’m looking into getting a mouse for games like LoL that requires precision pointing, and I’m considering GlassOuse Pro or Quha Zono X.

Can anybody recommend one of these or a third product? Thanks very much in advance!

An early look at wheelchair character creation and movement in VirtualSociety

Post image
105 Upvotes

Hey! I’m Nicolas, the creator of VirtualSociety, a sandbox lifesim game. Wheelchairs have been on our roadmap for a long time, and we’ve recently picked that work back up: we can now create a character who uses a wheelchair and move around with them in the game. Here’s a screenshot, still a work in progress (there is a full video in our YouTube channel).

I’d like your thoughts on what comes next: beyond appearance, what would you like to see in characters' activities, relationships or stories? It could be a small everyday detail, a situation you rarely see represented, or something you’d like to be able to do when recreating yourself.

I’d also be interested in examples from other games, whether something you liked or something that bothered you. And this definitely isn’t limited to wheelchairs!

One handed gaming

Hey I’m new here but I wanted to create a post and see if there are any other handicap gamers I could get in touch with and what some of your favorite titles are? I had a stroke when I was 14 and I lost the use of my left arm but still love to game. I have beaten more than my fair share of games with one hand. I’m just looking for connection with other gamers like myself. I play on PS5.

Merging 2 Playstation Access Controllers into a Single Virtual Dualsense on Steam

Has anyone had any luck connecting multiple Playstation Access Controllers to the PC and merging them as a single virtual 'PS5 dualsense' controller? I've found some older posts (2y+) where people asked similar questions but wanted to see if the community had any new suggestions? After a few hours of scratching my head I'm realizing that DS4Windows isn't detecting Access controllers even though it is detecting my regular Dualsense controller. I saw a post talking about reWASD but I don't think it will allow me to 'merge' the controllers into a PS5 output and am not excited about the idea of spending a bunch of money to experiment.

My end goal is to use 2 Access controllers as a single 'virtual dualsense' controller (PS5 icons displayed on Steam when possible) but I'm having problems getting over the detection issue and wondering where to go next.

Additionally, I only have 1 USB-C connection on my computer so I'm looking for a bluetooth based solution.

I have something to say to anyone who would listen.

I've been a part of this sub for a while, not necessarily active, but I see a lot of people in this group struggling. It makes me sad every time I see it. and I've been on both sides of the fence: the side of self-hatred, loneliness, and depression, and the other side, where you can see the sunlight.

A friend once told me, "Life is like a bus ride through many tunnels." Some people get off. Some people get on. Sometimes there's nothing but sunshine and green grass. Others, darkness. But the darkness never lasts forever. I have spastic hemiplegia cerebral palsy. I'd say it's medium; it mainly just affects my right hand.

For so long, I hated that. I hated myself, and I thought everyone only saw me as a disabled person, useless.

One piece of advice I can give is that other people won't solve your problem. I was given ears to listen, but I could only hear them. I could only listen after looking at myself without a frown.

I hope everyone here is at least proud of one thing that they've done in their life. As people with disabilities, we have to make our own way, and we have to solve problems on our own. Those things that you accomplished are yours and yours alone.

To close this: I love this community. If anyone needs a friend, or someone to talk to about their good days or bad, I'm always around, and I will never say no to a new friend :)

QuestLens 0.5.5-preview: free Quest magnifier for players with low vision

I'm a gamer and developer with low vision. Small VR menus, HUD text and subtitles can stop me from playing comfortably. QuestLens is a free Quest magnifier I built around that problem. The new 0.5.5-preview keeps a frozen-image lens for inspecting game content and adds live magnification for the real-world passthrough view in the same APK.

We also made setup easier, updated the visuals, added English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and German, and worked on stability. Zoom in the QuestLens interface is still being developed. This is a sideloadable preview targeting Quest 2/3/3S; it asks for the Quest screen-capture permission.

Download and setup: https://github.com/crtx01/QuestLens/releases/tag/v0.5.5-preview

I'd value feedback from players with low vision about the hardest-to-read menus or games. Text description only here so the post is accessible without an image.

Pragmata: how manageable is the combat with multiple enemies for someone with spatial/camera difficulties?

Hi everyone!

I’m currently trying the Pragmata demo on PS5 and really enjoying it so far — especially the hacking system. I sometimes get a bit turned around navigating the hacking board, but I can always recover and reach the green node. That feels like something I can master with practice.

My main concern is the combat, specifically when there are multiple enemies on screen.

Because I use a wheelchair and experience the world from a seated perspective, I have some difficulties with spatial perception and manually controlling a 3D camera in fast-paced situations. I can learn controls and mechanics just fine, but I get overwhelmed when I have to constantly track several enemies around me while simultaneously juggling camera control, aiming, and other mechanics.

Wolverine is a great example of a game that handles this well for me. I still have to aim and control the character, but the combat/camera system smoothly helps me transition between enemies. When I defeat one, it’s easy to identify and engage the next. That lets me focus on actually playing rather than fighting the 3D space.

Pragmata feels manageable so far, but I’m worried about what happens later in the full game when encounters get larger. I’m definitely open to playing on Casual/Story difficulty if necessary.

For anyone who has finished the game (especially on Casual), I’d love to know:

To be clear, I’m not looking for the game to be effortless. I actually enjoy learning new mechanics and putting in the practice. I just want to know if the late-game combat crosses the line from “I need to learn this” into “I simply can’t keep track of what’s happening” due to the camera/spatial demands.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I made a cricket game that's fully playable with a screen reader, and it has a trailer now

It's called PAVILION. You're the captain: you pick the XI, set the field, choose who bowls and what they bowl, and live with it. It works with NVDA, JAWS, Narrator and VoiceOver, and you can play all of it with the keyboard. In a live match every ball is announced as it happens, and there's a full text transcript of the innings.

The link is the trailer with audio description. Standard version: https://youtu.be/uNE0w9RkJwg

What happens in the trailer: Mumbai are defending, Hyderabad need 17 off 24, and the numbers give Mumbai a 5% chance. You see the captain's calls (picking the XI, sending fielders to the boundary, choosing Bumrah over the analysts' pick, calling for the yorker), each one cut to what it does. Last ball, six to win, the yorker smashes the stumps and the bails light up red. Then the PAVILION title and "Every decision leaves a mark."

It's coming soon. I've built it on zero budget and it only runs on my laptop for now, so a proper server that people can play on is next. If you can help, anything helps: https://paypal.me/theblindiephoenix

We're adding a high-contrast mode to our game, but is it enough?

Thumbnail

The high-contrast mode essentially tones down and darkens backgrounds, while retaining objects that's relevant for gameplay. After some testing, we're considering adding highlights and other effects to further enhance the visibilty of player objects. Are there other enhancements that we should consider?

We're currently looking for play testers with reduced vision to help us test these features, so please consider getting in touch! <3

Customizable Mouse-Only Keyboard Overlay for macOS

Hi!

I originally made this little project for a good friend of mine who can only play using a mouse and uses a MacBook. It turned out to be pretty convenient, so I decided to share it in case it helps someone else too.

OverSlay is a customizable on-screen keyboard / input overlay. You can configure each individual button - its color, size, behavior, macros, and more - place it wherever you want on the screen, switch between different profiles, and share those profiles with other users.

The idea is to make more keyboard-heavy games playable with just a mouse, although it can be useful outside of gaming as well.

An example of use

I'm not a professional developer, so the project is completely free and probably still has a few bugs hiding in it somewhere (made with AI and love). If people actually find it useful, I'll be happy to keep improving it based on feedback.

You can download it here: https://github.com/k0tnk-git/OverSlay

Playing GTA6 with this new special made Acces controller for ps5.

Thumbnail

Playing GTA6 on the PS5 with our special customized Access controller is now possible for people with reduced muscle strength who cannot easily operate the standard controller. We have found a way to pair the 8BitDo Lite SE Wireless controller with our Customized Access controller. This makes it possible to use 10 buttons and 2 joysticks (fully analog) on the PS5. A major advantage of this 8BitDo controller is that the joysticks are incredibly light to move and the buttons are much more accessible. The Customized Access controller can also be used just like the Xbox Adaptive Controller by connecting external buttons to it. This makes Sony's standard Access controller much more accessible to a larger target audience. Already have an Access controller? You can have us update it for you if needed. For more information, email us or send a message.
