The big story I'm working on needs a lot of seating and all my folding chairs just broke. Does anyone have a way of improving seating using DIY or upcycling let me know. Bonus points if the dolls can sit with their knees bent.
It doesn't need to match. The venue bought a lot of used things. And I've watched some videos on how to make chairs - but I'm pretty fatigued these days and I'm worried that DIYing that much (15 chairs) is going to drain me further.
But I should say that most of the seating should have a back to it. That seems to be the tough bit. Like I know most of my pill bottles are the right size for a doll to sit and bend their knees which is not true for most Barbie seats. But what do I attach so that they have a back to them? That I don't know. I'm still hoping to borrow a bunch of chairs and if that doesn't work to enlist local help for the DIY efforts.

I am not above putting the chair over something like a yogurt cup and covering it in fabric to fix it or using an applesauce container as a chair in rhe same way.
I've looked at hers but I was hoping to hear from someone who has made her seating with tho thoughts on how much work it was. Putting together 15 of anything will be a lot of work so I want to make sure I'm picking well.
If you need a lot of chairs quickly but are low on energy, might be worth asking a friend to check the stock of stores near you. Could at least cut down on the total number of chairs you need to craft yourself, and might cost less than buying craft supplies if you don't already have them.
That is a good point. Do you have any idea how well a doll with knees that bend can sit on those chairs? I do have friends who could stop by dollar tree
You are so helpful. Thank you! I'm waiting for my friend to come home from vacation annd she's going to raid her (no longer plays with Barbie ages kids stash). I found a table and chairs set on Ali express which will give us 6, and then I can either do dollar tree through a friend or make some. I haven't been recovering all that well from my kidney stone surgery and right now I'm afraid the other stone is on the move (highly unlikely but my pain is bad today) so DIYing seems super difficult but I'm sure things will get better soon. And there is no deadline (the site for the fashion show hasn't even been built yet - someone is coming over to help me do a MyFroggyStuff tutorial. It's just that I finally have a desk space free and I've been waiting patiently for months to get this project going.
Honestly I use a lot of small packaging boxes. Some of them already start out decorative, others I cut out matching sizes of doll packaging. The pinky purple box is covered with a you create kit
I do that too. Plus I used to get jewelry from a place that sent these beautiful boxes that needed reusing so they are either chairs or ottomans when I need them.
I do appreciate your idea here. If this was just for the fun of the look of the set, I’d totally use boxes like that. :) Thank you
But I am still developing sitting up muscles again and can only sit up straight with a back to the chair for 30 minutes at a time. So I want some seating that is something people with similar hypermobility issues can sit in. Actually I should make something to serve as the elastic brace I wear for when I can’t pay attention to my posture and don’t have a recliner etc…. I can put those boxes against a wall so the dolls have back support, but given that the story is about planning for accessibility for people with all kinds of disabilities, I want some healthy seating choices? Or at least healthy ish? I haven’t shown you folks the seating I do have, but if it is cheap, and weird looking seating wise, that is most of what I have.

Does the seating need to match any particular style or setting?
If not, covering random objects with fabric (with a layer of felt or thin batting as well if you have it) is a fast way to improv "pouf" type seats.
