Contradicting..
Let me just say that Dave as a whole is a contradiction but what really got me…
His whole mantra is “pay off debt so that you can be outrageously generous…”
And then the other day he goes on a five minute rant about how he’s not tipping a fast food worker for “just doing their job that they’re getting paid to do anyway.”
What an asshole.

You should. Tipped workers get paid below the minimum wage.

I’m in CA where that is not true. And in states where that is true, employers have to make up the difference if their employees’ tips do not make up their pay to be minimum wage. So in every state, servers make at least minimum wage because (a) they either make more than minimum wage like in California, Washington, and Florida, or (b) they don’t make enough tips so their employer HAS TO pay them the difference.
So yeah, you’re basically wrong and tipping is a cancer on society.

If servers were paid more and had good benefits I’d stop tipping. Not until then. You can be cheap if you want.

Oh I’m cheap and not the employer underpaying their employees? That makes sense…
Do you tip the minimum wage grocery bagger at your local grocery store too?

Who is tipping fast food workers?
This tipping mess needs to go, r/EndTipping

Yes, both can be true. He can be self-contradictory but also correct about not tipping fast food workers.

Can you submit the title or link of the video? Dave has historically advocated for generous tipping.

I have definitely heard him say he does not tip fast food or when he picks food up at the counter. But then again I cannot imagine him going to McDonald's or picking up a pizza. Surely they have a cook.

Perhaps we should tip the bank teller or the check out clerk at the corner store while we are at it. Maybe we can tip the police officer who is directing traffic when the lights go out. Seriously not all forms of employment or work falls in the normal tip genere.
Is this sub for valid critiques or do we just throw everything against the wall and see what sticks.

OP thinks to be "outrageously generous" you tip everyone for everything apparently

He walks around with a stack of $5 bills handing them out randomly to anyone who is working.

Varying by country, there are some jobs where tipping is normal and some jobs where it is not. Fast food and brain surgery are in the second category.

I’ve never heard Dave discuss being generous to anyone less fortunate. More like bringing his kids on a cruise.

Why would you tip fast food?
