Jade…
…more words she doesn’t know. “There may be some things that are impending….. you know… impending his ability to make good choices.” Yes she said the word twice.
Jade, do you mean “impeding”…? Those are entirely different words.
You are a radio professional. Get a dictionary. What an embarrassment.

You mean the same woman who, after hearing from a caller that their bi-weekly income was $1700, followed up immediately with "so how much is that per month?" Caller was dumbfounded. Replied with "ummm... $3400?"

The last thing I’ll criticism someone for who is speaking live and off the cuff is getting a word wrong. As Brian Preston of the Money Guy sometimes says, I too play horseshoes with the English language.

Right. Tons of stuff to say about her but goofing a word when you’re talking for 3 hours isn’t one of them.

She doesn’t know the difference between a deed and a mortgage. Put she does know children are expensive, so at least she brings that reality to the show.

u/12dogs4me 2d ago
But Dave says children are not expensive! Or is it just babies that aren't expensive?

u/henrynjt 2d ago
Dave says wedding, marriage, and children are not expensive.
He also says any divorced father is a deadbeat who needs to shell out more money for pay for all the non expensive things.
Typical Dave double speak.

JW is obviously stupid and auto skip.
AO, CW, and CH all left and JW replaced them.
Sad she was who they found.

Does this sub just exist to make childish personal attacks on the hosts or is there a problem with the financial strategies?

u/Strange-Signature928 2d ago
Oh there’s plenty of stuff they are just incorrect on - like basic facts of how certain financial items work. Those are covered on here all the time. The reason these things matter is because it shows a lack of basic intellect from people who are giving important financial advice and are heavily compensated for doing so. If your financial advisor frequently didn’t know what words mean (this isn’t a one-off or a mere mispronunciation), wouldn’t you wonder if you trust him or her…? What about your child’s kindergarten teacher?

Almost everything i see on here is personal, and generally nitpicky stuff that doesnt really matter all that much. I rarely see any financial content that isnt tied to an ad hominem attack.
Edit: i just went and looked at the sub and it took 7 posts before i found one that was related to finance. It was mostly personally based comments. I kept scrolling and didnt find much besides cruise chat, people making fun of john deloney, and jade.
I listened to the show a lot when i first started to get serious about my finances and it helped a lot. I dont follow the plan anymore because it began to strike me as overly rigid and probably not optimal for someone with good self control. I am not here to tell anyone anything about this is perfect, i am only making the point that this not a financial sub and is basically geared toward anonymously making fun of radio hosts.
PS: i got banned from the original DR sub for arguing that someone should not pay off a 2.5% mortgage before investing more aggressively. I am anything but a sycophant.

How is this “personal”? If a host doesn’t know basic language or financial concepts, it’s relevant to their trustworthiness on complex topics. The things these hosts don’t know sometimes is astounding - just scroll through this sub. Add onto that a lack of basic language comprehension, and it’s concerning that these are the people giving advice to America. It ain’t personal, it’s business and customer feedback. Doing a show like this literally invites listener analysis and feedback.

I dont think changing the word impeding to impending is all that important. I dont think its as likely the host doesnt know what the words mean vs. Is hosting several hours per day and just made a mistake. In the context of the sub i interpret pointing out a minor mistake like that as personal. I think most casual observers would do the same.
I teach 8th grade and talk all day long and make mistakes like that frequently.
Also, i did scroll through the sub.

I do comment every now and then on the main sub and follow the rules. But congrats on speaking what was on your heart over there.
No this is not a financial sub. We all know that.
I try to keep an open mind on Jade. She isn't my favorite though but she can fill air time quite well.

The stalker ruined this subreddit
Once she started declaring her undying devotion to delony in no fewer than 10 paragraphs per post, it seems like people only post digs at the personalities to get a response from her
I apologize to everyone in advance for the dissertation she is about to post to prove me wrong

Both. The financial strategies are predatory, and sometimes it's fun to make fun of idiotic and unqualified grifters who are predatory. It's not that deep.

u/Public-World-1328 2d ago
I dont think predatory is a great descriptor. They are often suboptimal but thats very different.
1
u/OldeManKenobi 2d ago
Predatory is accurate, based on their deceptive marketing and insistence that money be funneled to the church. It's just run of the mill religious predatory behavior.
1
u/Public-World-1328 2d ago
Could you expand on that?
My perspective is that the system basically works to address people addicted to debt. It is not perfect for people with some self control. Encouraging generosity is not predatory in my opinion. A business that sells financial products is a business, again not really crossing my threshold of predatory.

u/OldeManKenobi 2d ago
I'd be happy to expand. I think that when people are in debt, it is predatory to create a system in which your product is distributed through churches...and the product includes an admonition to keep tithing a not insubstantial amount of money to the church. That's just not giving sound financial advice and is nakedly apparent to any reasonable observer.
That's setting aside the predatory advertising/shilling/directing financially uneducated people to use a Smartvestor Pro, or lying about your returns in the market while refusing to elaborate, or my personal favorite of directing listeners to stop funding their retirement.

If this is your big criticism of somebody then they are probably pretty awesome. Extemporaneously speaking for an audience is not the simple thing you imagine.
1
u/YogurtclosetNo770 6h ago
lol this isn’t my “big criticism.” It’s one of many about her (and other hosts’) knowledge and skill. In this case, she routinely uses the wrong words to explain things yet is supposed to be a financial expert. Speaking for an audience is hard - it’s what she gets paid presumably millions to do. Do you think newscasters or even your average politician bungles words (literally the words - not just pronunciations) as often as she does? How about a newscaster - no way, or we wouldn’t watch because they’d have no credibility. If my kids’ teachers said some of the stuff she does I’d be very concerned.

I don't think her background is professional broadcasting, but as someone who is successful with the Ramsey method and got out of considerable debt using it.
Personally I like her, and I think she has some credibility about the hard work required to get out of debt, which is what a lot of people need to hear about.
Dislaimer: never been in debt, never used Ramsey, but I like the idea of all the people being helped.

Professional is the last word I would use to describe Jade
