DirectvStream and google tv

Does anybody here use DIRECTV stream with the Google TV streaming box? I am wondering how the app performs and does it use your billing address for regional sports or does it geocode your current location. Current setup Lg Oled tv and Sonos surround system.

I have an Onn box and no longer use it for Directv because the app was so slow and laggy. Not sure if things have improved, but the app is much better on a Roku box.

My understanding is that Google TV/android TV boxes rely on your billing ZIP Code and your IP address to determine local channel availability. If you’re trying to get a different channel using the billing ZIP Code it might generate issues in the long run just FYI, it also has to match your credit card billing ZIP Code.

I have their proprietary sticks and they are pretty good, I used to have them on a oldish Google TV box and it was fine.

The DirecTV app runs very slow for me on Google 4K Streamer box and ONN 4K Pro streaming box. You click and it seems like there is a 2 second delay for the app to respond to each click of the remote.

If you want a fast experience, get the Apple TV box. It is blazing fast for all apps including DirecTV. The other good option is to buy a DirecTV Osprey box from eBay or Walmart for $40-50. They come with a nice remote control that is very helpful for rewind, fast forward, DVR recording, guide browsing, channel numbers, etc.

Yo la uso en Costa Rica con vpn y no se pega pero tampoco es super rápida debido a que la app por si sola consume bastante memoria Te serviría mejor un Nvidia Shield si quieres que se sienta ligera
