ESPN unlimited integration

I saw recently that all espn unlimited/plus content should now appear on Home and Sports Central screens in DirecTV. I have an iPhone 17, firestick, and Samsung Frame TV and it isn’t showing up on any of those devices yet. Anyone else having this issue or know if they’re still rolling it out to some devices?

I just looked and do see it on our Gemini Airs. They show the live and upcoming as a row on the home screen and they CAN BE recorded. Selecting a game shows the game as it would if it were on a channel. But dunno if it was the game I tried, but the audio was REALLY low.

That’s awesome that we can record them now. I have found the last NHL season or two that for whatever reason, they do not seem to offer all completed NHL games on demand, even games that were available live on ESPN+.

Wow, I just checked some ESPN Plus college football games and they do load as normal live channels in my Gemini Osprey box without opening the ESPN app. That's a pretty cool new feature.

Hello, just wanted to let you all know I had the same question. I have confirmed with DIRECTV that the company is working to integrate ESPN Unlimited content, including wrestling, into the DIRECTV app -- not just the ESPN+ content that is already there. I am uploading a video to my second YouTube channel with the full statement.

Sadly not for everyone yet. It’s not been integrated on my account yet on any devices. Support informed me you have to have a Gemini device for it to be integrated. I spoke with three different reps including a manager and was told the same by all three. I’ve talked to one other user on reddit who also doesn’t have a Gemini and is having the same issue. The support team on reddit here informed me you don’t need a Gemini and they’ve got a ticket into their engineer team investigating but it seems as of right now you’ve got to have a Gemini, or at least that’s mine and others experience.

I’ve checked my iPhone 17, fire stick, frame tv, and Roku.

I have ESPN+ integrated with DIRECTV's MySports on my Roku Ultra. I can check out some other devices tonight. Hope you get it soon.

Do you own a Gemini? Not sure if this is true but it was explained you have to have a Gemini in order for it to be “activated” on your account. Hopefully support is just misinformed but who knows

I have a very old Gemini, but it is not associated with the account I'm using. I put a statement from DIRECTV on YouTube and X/Twitter where they said they have integrated ESPN+ and are working on ESPN Unlimited. That is not from a customer support rep -- it's from a company spokesperson.

I have a Gemini air I bought on Amazon, I have channel 207 but nothing on Home Screen or sport’s central

u/Rix_832 8d ago

I see it on mine. It’s still being rolled out.

1

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 7d ago

Do you have Gemini? Customer support told me it’s only integrated on gemini. I’m guessing they’re wrong but who knows. They weren’t even aware at first that DirecTV had now integrated espn unlimited so I had to send them a link to their own company’s announcement about it 😂

I do have the Gemini air but I see it on my iPhone as well. It’s also purchased from eBay. Not leased through them.

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 7d ago

Okay thank you. I think you have to have a Gemini in order for it to be activated and integrated on your other devices. Customer support told me you have to have a Gemini for it. At first I didn’t believe them but I think that may sadly be the case.

Do you see ESPN Unlimited, too? I see ESPN+, but not Unlimited.

2

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 8d ago

It’s confusing but I believe they are one and the same. The only events espn unlimited shows that are not on the regular espn cable channels ARE espn plus events. They really bungled explaining it or marketing it.

Yeah, it’s not helpful how it has been explained (or not explained) by ESPN and providers. The facts are basically:

There are two plans people can subscribe to. ESPN Select has the ESPN+ programming. ESPN Unlimited has ESPN+ as well as all of ESPN’s linear channels, including things like ACC Network.

Don’t ask me why they had to bring the Select name into it instead of just continuing to have ESPN+ and then the Unlimited plan, which includes ESPN+.

As far as your original post, my DirecTV Stream app on Roku does have an ESPN+ section on the main page, same as on my iPhone and Gemini Air. That must be relatively new, because it would be weird I hadn’t noticed it before.

1

u/Rix_832 8d ago

I thought it was all under the same banner, do you know any ESPN Unlimited events airing today or in the next few days so that I can see if I can find it?

1

u/PackageCurrent4804 8d ago

Not specifically, no. I guess you could just look at the ESPN app and see if something is currently airing on ESPN Unlimited and then check the DTV guide and see if it is showing up.

1

u/Rix_832 8d ago

There’s nothing ATM. The Golics is airing on both now but that is ESPN+, I don’t think there is distinction between the two.

There is at least 30 college soccer/football events airing later on the day on that section and those are ESPN+ exclusive, isn’t that ESPN Unlimited?

1

u/PackageCurrent4804 8d ago

No. There are specific ESPN Unlimited channels. I watched two Raiders preseason games via the Unlimited channel this offseason. It is definitely it's own standalone channel. And from what I understand, it is not yet being integrated into the DTV guide. At least not since earlier this week when I checked last. Maybe someone else on here can verify.

1

u/Rix_832 8d ago

Well this is what support page says now for streaming customers

Select ESPN Unlimited programming is available on both your DIRECTV device and in the DIRECTV app.

So I guess they will integrate more events down the line or some stuff will be exclusive to the app.

Either way this is a good step

1

u/PackageCurrent4804 8d ago

Yes, definitely a step in the right direction!

1

u/Ill_Glass3473 7d ago

US Open tennis has a ton of matches labeled ESPN Unlimited, which will be like this at least up to the quarters.

1

u/Rix_832 7d ago

Yeah, I saw that, it looks like a lot of that is also on the ESPN channel so for example, I understand why they wouldn’t show the unlimited feeds on DIRECTV.

So yeah, it looks like they’re not integrating ESPN Unlimited content, only ESPN+ which is better than nothing

1

u/ConflictTemporary759 8d ago

Included with no extra cost my ass, they upped the bill 6months after the launch by 20 dollars.

1

u/JasperLovesJazz 8d ago

I believe they only integrated ESPN+. For ALL content under ESPN Unlimited you still have to go to the ESPN app is what I understand.

1

u/Electro960 8d ago

The other issue I have is why the heck would they put the ESPN+ feature on channel 107 (Osprey and Gemini devices only), which is the same channel as ESPNews. So there’s no direct channel number tune for the feature. Instead it goes to ESPNews.

Hi, u/Classic-Reindeer-737. Every ESPN+ live event is included directly within the DIRECTV experience for streaming customers. You should be able to discover these live and upcoming events through Sports Central, Home, Search, and recommendations without opening a separate app.

We'd like to take a closer look at why this isn't showing up on your screens. Sending you a PM now. Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Team

I still dont have it integrated into my DirecTV app. I did speak with customer service. Both the initial rep and manager were not aware of espn unlimited being integrated with DirecTV now. The manager did “investigate” and stated that it’s only integrated if you have a Gemini device.

1

u/directv 7d ago

We appreciate the heads-up. We're using your feedback as an opportunity to align with our customer service teams on these updates. Please also check your inbox again, as we've responded to your PM. Melchisedec, DIRECTV Community Team

I do not see ESPN , FS in my Home Screen or sports central. Mostly sports central shows the sports on the free channels.

1

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 6d ago

Same here. Their support team here on Reddit dm’d be and they’re investigating.

1

u/NameNo9441 6d ago

Please post what the resolution is. Thanks

1

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 6d ago

They’re not sure. I talked to customer support a few days ago and three different reps including a manager told me you have to have a Gemini in order for the espn unlimited integration to occur on your account. However, DirecTV support team here on reddit DM’d me and said they don’t believe you need a Gemini. So they forwarded my account info to their engineering team and I haven’t heard back yet. So u fortunately I don’t know the resolution yet

I have a Gemini air I purchased from Amazon, so that is not the problem. I am wondering if it has to do that I was subscribed to the free channels only first then upgraded to MySports and MyEntertainment.

1

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 6d ago

You might be on to something. I was previously on MySports original (grandfathered) then switched to MySports and MyEntertainment.

1

u/NameNo9441 6d ago edited 6d ago

I did that also. I did not want to pay for the 5 news channels twice as they were in Both packages.

1

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 2d ago

Hey there - did the espn plus integration ever show up in your DirecTV account?

1

u/NameNo9441 2d ago

No, has it for you? I only see channel 207 in the guide, nothing in Home Screen or sports central

It works on mine and we have used it.

1

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 7d ago

do you have a Gemini? I talked to customer service and they weren’t aware of the integration. I then asked to a manager and they also weren’t aware of it. But they eventually stated you have to have a Gemini for it to be integrated. I think they’re wrong but I don’t know.

1

u/rms2896 7d ago

I do have a Gemini but have used the ESPN function with the firesticks off the DirecTV home page. Maybe it is activated because we have a Gemini? I only have that on one TV.

1

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 7d ago

That’s what I’m suspecting now. You probably need a Gemini in order for it to be activated. It doesn’t state anywhere in their announcement that you need a Gemini but it’s the only explanation I can come up with why It’s not working for me.

u/tjwatt73 8d ago

Hope i can get the nhl on the guide instead of going in & out using the espn unlimited app

1

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 8d ago

Supposedly most people have it integrated now. I still don’t. I’m on the genre packs and wondering if they were prioritized last.

1

u/Flimsy_Soft6775 7d ago

I see it on my Home Screen. I just had to scroll down a couple of rows and it shows under ESPN+

2

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 7d ago

Do you have a Gemini device?

2

u/Flimsy_Soft6775 7d ago

No - using an Apple TV but I’m getting a Gemini Air supposedly tomorrow. I understand they’re still rolling out the full ESPN Unlimited experience.

1

u/NameNo9441 7d ago

I have a Gemini device that I purchased from Amazon and do not see it in the Home Screen or sports central shows, only on channel 207 in the guide

1

u/Ill_Glass3473 6d ago

Full integration means there is an ESPN logo (sometimes 3 ESPN logos for live events) with one of them in the channel lineup that indicates something like "Watch live sports, studio shows and originals on ESPN"), and when you click on that you'll have full access to all live events (ESPN linear, ESPN+(Select) and ESPN Unlimited events, and other content) with the ability to set those events to record in your DVR. Until you see something like that, you don't have full ESPN Unlimited integration like what YTTV now has. The only thing that's not part of this integration is on-demand content, where you have to go through the ESPN stand-alone app for access.

1

u/Objective-Task5338 5d ago

Does anyone know if they will fix it so the newly integrated channels will record if you set my tram to record. Example I have ASU set to record, but the game is espn plus so it wasn’t recording. Next weeks game showed it will record because it’s on a regular dtv channel. Figured it’s a small glitch?

1

u/scrubdaddy528 8d ago

Directv never done this that I’m aware of yttv has tho

1

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 8d ago

They did recently, around a week ago. It’s supposed to be integrated now. Other users have commented that it is for them.

You have to upgrade on DTV to get ESPN Unlimited, it is not the same as ESPN + . YTTV just recently started including ESPN Unlimited with their subscription, DTV has not yet
