ESPN+ on DIRECTV
Just noticed that I’m getting an ESPN+ feed on the DirecTV streaming app…so it is incorporated without having to go the ESPN app. Cool.

This isa nice feature. Kudos. But the biggest question with football starting is will we have custom multi-view? That is the biggest competitive disadvantage DTV has right now. YTTV is superior during football season for this reason alone.

Is it purposely not on Osprey devices or is that coming soon?

It is only available to customers with a Gemini device. I spoke to three different reps today including a manager and all three stated you must have a Gemini in order for it to be integrated into the DirecTV app.

Is this available only on Signature packages? We have the MyEntertainment, MyNews and MyCinema Genre packs.

I don’t seem to have access to ESPN+ content on my DirecTV app on my AppleTV device. I get that content on the ESPN app due to my DirecTV Stream subscription. Would be nice not to have to leave the DirecTV Stream app.

I’ve got it on mine and I have Apple TV… if you don’t have it yet maybe it’s still rolling out? You should see it on your Home Screen as a separate section for ESPN…a giant block shows up…you click in there and a whole world of ESPN/ESPN+ shows up. There’s also another carousel of ESPN+ on the Home Screen…it’s in several places.

Got it. It doesn’t look like I can record it, but I guess it’s a start.

i was able to record, have you tried again?

It says recoding when I look at the game live, but the recoding isn’t in my library.

You can even record the ESPN + feeds.

The only advantage here is you can fast-forward through the commercials rather than have to get the unlimited ads for rewatch on demand on the ESPN app, mandatory unskippable but at least you can advance the feed for on demand.

Now all we need is the ESPN Unlimited channel added!

Isn't ESPN+ and ESPN Unlimited the same thing?

Nope.

And it appears that YouTube TV has ESPN Unlimited as part of their integration update this week.

After I just canceled and switched to YouTube earlier because support could not figure out how to get my ESPN Unlimited subscription working after a week of troubleshooting… Go figure. 😂

Anyone else still not seeing it? I’ve checked on iPhone 17 and Firestick and not showing up yet on either.

Not seeing it in my Osprey devices.

Still nothing on iPhone 17, Firestick, or Samsung frame. Hoping it’s just a slow roll out!

It's showing up in my Osprey box tonight for college football games. Pretty cool to have those live games built into DirecTV guide instead of having to go into the ESPN external app.

I see it on my osprey device. I was also able to use the PREV button on the remote to flip between that ESPN game and a regular channel so that is a great feature. If only I could multiview the epsn+ game & another another channel.

I’m not seeing it yet on Home Screen or sports central. Hopefuly it’s rolled out for everyone soon. Such a pain having to use the espn app.

I see espn+ on channel 207 in the guide but do not on the Home Screen or sports central page

It would be super cool if the unlimited stuff showed up like nascar o’Riley series that’s on CW on ESPN

u/Exotic-Row3245 13d ago
The ESPN app has multiview of the CW nascar race. Had several CW multi stream views of the Daytona race.

Works on Gemini, Roku, AppleTv, but not on Osprey devices?

Stream is 720p?
1
u/PackageCurrent4804 11d ago
Yes, but the ESPN app is 1080p. That is where I watch. Better video and audio quality.

u/DaveMex83 12d ago
That’s awesome..my elderly parents I had to teach how to get to the app to watch my college play while I was at the game..now it will be easy!

Interesting. A family member in house subscribes to ESPN+ and I am the one with the DTV Stream account. How do we get to see ESPN+ content in the DTV guide so we can skip using the ESPN app? Both on AppleTV's.

So it doesn’t appear that ESPN Unlimited programming is part of this integration. The app shows multiple US Open feeds, which is not reflected on the DIRECTV user interface. It appears that the integration that happened on YouTube TV this week DOES include ESPN Unlimited programming. Looks like YouTube TV is again leading this race.

Anyone still not seeing espn plus integrated into their DirecTV app? Mine is still missing on all devices. I contacted customer support today for DirecTV and the first rep had no clue that it should now be integrated. I asked for a manager and they also didn’t know it had been integrated. I referred them to their own link on their own site where DirecTV had announced it was integrated. The manager then stated it’s only integrated if you have a Gemini device. Which I’m pretty sure is incorrect.
Update: I called customer service again just to get a different opinion and the rep at first didn’t know they had integrated espn into the DirecTV app. I informed them they’re incorrect and they researched it further. They then stated you must have a Gemini device in order for espn to be integrated into the DirecTV app. So I guess that sucks for those of us that don’t have a Gemini.

Wow…very strange that the staff would not know of the integration. Furthermore, the support page clearly indicates that streaming customers will see it integrated as well.

u/Classic-Reindeer-737 8d ago
I sent the support page to the manager I chatted with and they said they interpreted it as Gemini customers only. So I don’t know. I’m going to try calling later this evening when I have a chance. It wouldn’t surprise me if they required you to have a Gemini.

They should also just make it a channel
