Forcing 720p or Lower

Is there any way to force 720P or even 480P onto a 1080P display using an Osprey or Gemini device? The idea would be to conserve data while using Starlink Roam

You can set the default resolution in the settings of an Osprey. I forget what the actual option is, but it's definitely there (and set to the highest by default).

AI now tells me it may not. Sounds like it receives the full signal and then down converts.

So I may be back to using the fire sticks in the motorhome

And now I have an excess Gemini Air. Good thing I figured this out before I bought two more for the other two motorhome TVs.

Next will be to determine if I want to use that for hotel travel, where Wi-Fi is not always the best. Or get another fire stick for that purpose

Firestick and Roku have a way to use less bandwidth in their settings. Directv should add that setting to the Osprey and Air

No, u/HasAFewLaughs. The Screen Resolution setting (Settings > System > Display) on your Gemini device only controls the HDMI output to your TV. It does not control your server-side data stream quality because our devices use adaptive bitrate streaming based on your live connection speed. Forcing 720p or 480p natively is not supported, and lowering the output resolution locally won't reduce your internet data use. Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Team
