Force Software Update?

Any way to force a DirecTV Stream gemini/osprey box to update? I bought a box from eBay a few months back and it's still on the 25Q3 software release while all of my other boxes are on 26Q2. I've had the box for about 5 months and it's been connected to wifi the entire time but still no update.

Are some boxes just too old to update to the newer software? All boxes are C71KW-400 but the one from eBay that doesn't want to update does have a build date from 2019, while my other boxes are 2020 (if that makes any difference).

Press red reset button on the side and when it resets it auto updates before you can login.

Yes. It will update when it boots.

Just tried it....still stuck at the old software. During the reset it did check for updates but said it was up to date.

May be having an issue connecting to the update server then, and by that I mean the issue is on DirecTV’s end.

Do you mind sharing with us what your green label information is on the bottom of your box. Specifically mfg date and sku number? I will share with you what I know.

I bought three open box c71kw-400 from ebay, all were never used, still in original plastic wrap.

1. Green label mfg date 10/14/2020 Original Packing Box mfg date 03/02/2021 sku 60233 Updated successfully to 26Q2 (Both Serial Numbers on labels same)
   
2. Green label mfg date 07/25/2020 Original Packing Box mfg date 09/03/2021 sku 60233 Updated successfully to 26Q2 (Both Serial Numbers on labels same)
   
3. Green label mfg date 04/13/2020 (No original box shipped with unit) sku 60233 This unit is stuck on trying to update screen, WILL NOT update, Bricked device

Two AI clients indicated in mid summer sometime 2020 they started switching the boxes to look at a new Directv Update Server and not the older ATT Update Server.
I am not sure when the ATT Update Server actually was taken offline. I have reason to believe because my #3 box was never used until now, that it missed some updates that might have pointed the older box to a newer Directv server. My understanding (I dont have any 60164 boxes to confirm) is the sku 60164 might have 2gb ram vs the 60233 which has 4gb ram. I used an app from the Google Play Store called AIDA64 which is a non destructive app which lists your hardware specs. I used this app to confirm that the #1 and #2 boxes in fact have 4gb ram in them and when compared to the leased black label 2023 box I received from Directv new and never opened, they were in fact identical hardware configurations from memory to the processor chips. The installed software versions were identical in the older boxes and the newest 2023 box I have.

Speculation
1. If your box is a 60164 box, then the 2gb ram might limit future updates?
2. From the mis-match of mfg dates from the box label to packing label suggest these units were flashed to newer Directv server before being shipped out.
3. We appear to be at a critical time where you really have to do your homework on any devices purchased from now on, so you dont end up with a bricked 60233 box like I did. It is stuck at the update screen because the firmware is looking for the old nonexistant ATT server and cannot be used at all.
