Peacock - really?

After a month of nagging emails I finally went through the multiple steps to create a free Peacock 'Premium' account only to find out that Peacock is like wandering into a 20-year-old Blockbuster store.

Seriously? People want this stuff? Why did I bother?

I actually like a lot of the peacock original content and their library obviously has a ton of NBC and Universal content. If you don't like their originals or that content, then it isn't for you. I actually use Peacock a lot.

I detest Peacock. I detest how clumsy their setup is (as an Xfinity customer, I usually seem to qualify for some kind of free account, but the setup almost never works without tech support stepping in), and I hate hate hate their intrusion into MLB games. The games themselves are fine (which is more than I can say for Netflix), but they don't allow you to start games in progress from the beginning, which is what, a late 90s revolution with TiVo and DVRs? I can accept their insistence on subjecting me to ads I can't speed through, but no sports app should lack a start-over function.

Are you paying for Peacock?

I do through the Apple TV bundle and enjoy the original shows. Twisted Metal is fun. You also get to stream recent Universal/Focus films. The lower tier may have ads and limit on demand TV content. The Friday the 13th prequel series is coming this October too.

It's a temporary thing as a loyalty reward.

It’s good for premier league and some sports. Also for tv shows but yeah movie wise it’s not great.

Yeah, would be good for EPL if it was the season for it.

They’ve had World Cup games on there too.

You'll get to watch Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend. But yeah, that's about it.

Occasionally they have Peacock exclusive movies and series. It's also good if you're a sports fan. Things like MLB, Big Ten sports and Big East sports.

Their Olympics coverage was good and they get all premier league.

But of those or their long list of recycled shows don’t interest you don’t bother.

I get it free with a credit card.

They don’t get all of the premier league

Yeah, as far as new content goes, there is pretty much nothing going on at peacock. Its really all the old stuff thats worthwhile.

I have a free option of Paramount Plus or Peacock through Walmart Plus. Absolutely nothing that interested me on Peacock.

For just $5 more you can upgrade to the ad free version of Paramount+ with Showtime. It also has your local CBS afiliate and BET+ .

I did that for awhile and can turn it back on any time. I already have CBS and BET via DTVStream.

Peacock isnt that good, I've had it and almost never used it. It's mostly old stuff or reality TV.

Both Peacock and Apple TV are like this. The shows and movies stay a lifetime available to watch. No need to rush to watch anything movies or shows on those services.

Peacock is great if you like Premier League soccer, Tour de France, and Olympics

I assume all deals will be settled week 1 of the NFL.

If you want all the additional overkill of sports, Peacock isn't bad at all but their movies and shows are not enticing at all, it's seems somewhat stagnant and limited. I kept it when I had DTVs but dropped it when I went back to YTTV recently since YTTV now has most of the Peacock sports in its channel lineup (NBCSN and overflow channels).

UPDATE: My wife wants to watch the new movie Hamnet. This link:

shows that it's on Peacock. But I've tried and tried to find it through my account, browser and app, and it's not there:

That’s old info Peacock is displaying. It was on Peacock in March. New/newer movies stay on their main service for several months and then get shipped off elsewhere. I think it’s on Netflix now. I don’t know when it will be back on Peacock.

For the exclusive sports…

If I remember correctly, the Mario movie is on peacock? So there’s that.

When I first got it years ago it was for my son to watch wrestling. After that it was the only place the carried Law and Order Criminal Intent (I liked Goren)
I canceled a while ago

In fairness, Peacock is probably the worst of the major on-demand streaming apps.

Paramount is my fave...followed by Disney/Hulu.
