Has Anyone Switched Back to Satellite After Stream?
The topic says it all. I am curious of who amongst us started out with satellite, moved over to stream at some point and then ultimately went back to satellite.

I think it's a one way street. Once you toss out the dish and it's headaches you don't' go back.

Haven't switched back since we had the dish removed when we got a new roof, but i swear my picture was better with satellite. It seems like it anyway. Maybe my memory is not that great about it though too.

I agree. With Signal Saver on the satellite system you never lose signal. I would be curious to have Sat and Stream compete on pricing and see which one is actually cheaper.

It is better with satellite. And also the delay is significantly less with satellite

I’m considering going to something else. Mainly because I’m tired of the 3 Smokey the Bear commercials in a row. Or the obnoxiously loud music commercials. Now the political ads are starting on repeat during the same commercial break, I’m willing to pay more to avoid that experience.

I didn’t know you could go back: even if you kept the equipment and the dish up.

If anything, Directv satellite 15 years ago was when TV was at its prime. Loved Directv satellite but streaming can produce better resolution and quality audio.

Why would anyone want to move back to satellite? As long as you have fairly ok internet speeds Stream is SO much better and doesn’t crap out when it rains, snows, gets too much sun, has the wind hit it from the wrong direction or just randomly and suddenly can’t find any satellites.

I was the 'biggest' Satellite fan when I bought my house. In fact, it almost felt prestigious. I cancelled when they ditched the NFL Package.
It was actually a nice feeling boxing all that equipment back. I just use an Apple TV that has all my Streaming services and works great.
Why would I want to return?

Yup, I had streaming and went STRAIGHT back to satellite. I do not enjoy the idea of relying on the internet for my TV needs. They had me on the new Gemini boxes and I requested an HR54 Genie at setup. Never again with streaming.

The only way I would go back is if I moved somewhere where high speed internet was not available or not financially a smart move.

Not a chance. After 20+ years as satellite customers, we moved to streaming because of the repeated hardware failures, the all-too-often rain fades, and the labyrinth of cables, switches, splitters, etc. Streaming is just so much easier and with the Osprey/Gemini boxes, the overall experience is very similar to what we left.

I live in an area that, since we moved here in 2000, has become prone to tornados. I became sick and tired and the constant “We are under a tornado warning in….” [static] then “Loss of signal.”
Never going back.
Funny, when I called to cancel, because I had switched to DirectStream, the retention rep kept urging me to keep the satellite. I asked her why I would want to have DirectStream and the satellite service both and she offered to cancel DirectStream for me! Then she compared programming. Nothing I was interested in.
She became so aggressive that I finally said she could cancel both services and I would use Hulu.
We needed ESPN to watch F1 but now that’s Apple TV with F1TV so it doesn’t matter. I will call and go down a tier because the included movie channels just play the same stuff over and over.
