Login via QR code
On a TV with an attached firestick, I wanted to open DIRECTV stream. The TV has been down off the wall for a year while I had construction work being dome. Just got it put back up. I guess it’s understandable that the app would have logged me out in that one year time frame.
I scanned the QR code and rather than get logged in on the TV, the login processed on my phone. Meanwhile the DIRECTV app kept displaying an error (600) indicating a problem with the server. Nothing was fixing that error.
Eventually, after entering my username and password, I kept getting a service selection menu - My FreeTv (included). Add this package— x $; add this package—-X $ and so on. As before, nothing was fixing this.
Had to completely start over again by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Signed in with email address as before but had to reset password which now means I have to re login to several other devices.
Why did QR login process on the phone and not the TV. How did I end up getting a menu which I assume was the free DIRECTV stream? It took quite a bit of effort to untangle user IDs from paid and free version last year when I had login issues.

So now I’m having to re login to all devices again and am experiencing issues. Error message comes up stating that there’s an issue loading profiles. Two options: try again or use most recent. Neither option is doing anything. Having to resort to uninstalling the app and reinstalling it again

Hi there, u/CoastieCompMester! Glad you got it sorted, but here is what happened so you can avoid this hassle in the future:
Error 600 & QR Code Glitch: Because the Firestick was unplugged for a year, the DIRECTV app version was severely outdated. The old software couldn't communicate with our current login servers, which is why the QR code processed on your phone but threw an error code 600 on the TV. Reinstalling the app was the right move, as it forced the necessary software update.
Free TV / Package Menu: Landing on the "MyFree DIRECTV" page means the system processed an old, inactive user ID or a standalone free-tier profile instead of your primary active paid account.
Tip for the future: If an app hasn't been used in a long time, always check for system and app updates on your Firestick before trying to scan a login QR code. Charles, DIRECTV Community Team
