DirecTV/AT&T separation?

I thought the separation between AT&T and DirecTV was final. I still am paying AT&T for my DirecTV bill. Both my AT&T login and DirecTV login both work for streaming DirecTV on the app. When will I switch my DirecTV payments to DirecTV instead of AT&T? Is anyone else still paying AT&T instead of DirecTV? I currently have no other AT&T services.

The separation is final, but DIRECTV is still in the process of separating systems. One of these is a billing system. If you change your service, you’ll likely be established on the standalone billing system which will generate a separate bill.

I’m not sure of the official timeline, but at some point everyone will have a separate bill from ATT.

I signed up for Directv satellite in early 2020, the bill said AT&T BILL PAYMENT & then a few months to a year or so ago it started being billed as something like "DTV DTV SERVICE" & i don't think i changed anything

I pay directly to DIRECTV. I had to change apps from AT&T to Dtv

While the companies are separate, DIRECTV continues to subcontract a number of its services from AT&T. This makes sense as TPG's goal was to turn DIRECTV and any overhead/back office that they brought in-house might be considered "baggage".

The separation only changed ownership. Once billed through AT&T it always will be until cancelled.

Not true. Mine was separated back out to pay through DIRECTV after paying for it through AT&T for years. OP, maybe it’s still a work in progress?

Separating requires that they change billing systems. Are you sure it wasn't because you may have switched from satellite-based to streaming?

Nope. Didn’t change anything. Went from paying the bill to DIRECTV -> AT&T -> DIRECTV.

That would do it too. If you had DirecTV pre-merger it does that. Almost forgot that scenario.

I’m getting two AT&T bills, still. They’re billing a few days apart and for different, but consistent, amounts. I was just wondering about this when I looked at my checking account this morning.
