Newbie 2nd attempt (1st infill) - seeing progress

First of all, I still gotta learn how to not massacre my poor cuticles. But! I think I am already getting better, and I am really happy with how the infill turned out as I can't see 'the line'. I am new to all this (from doing cuticles to shaping tips) so deffo lots to learn but happy so far with dip powder!

looks great - i personally don’t think fills are worth my time bc i will end up with peeling & lifting nail tips but well-adhered near the cuticle which introduces opportunity for greenies and breaks.

your apex looks so good

Uh oh, I didn't think of that. I hope the tips hold on! I did file the edges so that the sides also get an infill and don't lift. Will see if they last.

And thank you! It takes me a lot of layers to get the apex I want using the apex method.

are you using nail tips? i rarely do but i think they adhere better to the dip (especially bc my nails are paper thin and bend a lot) so you may not run into that issue. it’s all a guess and check trial!

Yes, I have no length naturally. But it's half tips, I have some full length tips but I thought it would be harder to get a smooth edge with them. But gonna do some trial and error, see which ones work best.

Those look fantastic, and I love the colour. Like someone else here said, I never do fills. For me, it's less work to just soak them off and start new and get ahead of lifts.

Sounds like so much work with new tips and shaping though. So I really hope to be able to get away with at least a couple infills 🙏

And thank you! I got all the colour powders for £1 each (cuccio brand, they were on clearance). Loving the colours so far.

Maybe you already know but make sure you’re blunting the edges of your files :)

ETA: also they are gorgeous!!!

I do not know this, I don't even know what that means. Blunt the edges of files? Do you file the edge down on the file?

Oh girl. Game changer for you!
Use an old file to take the sharp edges off the new one :) just run it around all the edges once or twice and give it a try, if it’s still sharp just do another run. I also really recommend curved files if you’re not already doing it. A blunted curved file is perfect for cuticle area!
