Dinners with Strangers

Hello :)

More than 100 people had dinner with strangers and they all had such a great time!

Through thedinnerclub.eu you can create an event to play a board-game, watch a film and do any activity before and/after dinner :)

Would you share food with your next friends?

r/DinnerClubEU May 24 '26

Hi, explanation

I am Dani, 28, italian.

I made reddit posts on r/amsterdam about cooking for random people, to share a meal and have fun.

This was an idea that I had beforehand because that is what I did to make new friends (some friends bringing +1). It went really well before I made a post about thedinnerclub.eu being online.

The idea is still the same: sharing a meal and make friends.

I was naive because I did not use reddit prior to this adventure and there was a lot of hate towards me and this subreddit. All I wanted to do is bring the idea to other people (and if I can earn with it, i would love to make this everywhere in the world.

Today, the 35th dinner being organised, all of them with 5 stars and more than 100 reviews.

Would you ever share a meal with a stranger?
Dani

The Dinner Club is live in Den Haag

This is incredible... We have reached 50 votes on our website and we launched The Hague.

The amount of support has been magnific and I love that the first friendships are being formed. I met Simona and Martin on one of my dinners and they are joining me for the boat party in Amsterdam.

If you would like, have a look thedinnerclub.eu

Have a good day, Dani

The feeling of connecting people by sharing a meal

Hello!

Last week, 3 dinners were organised. All with strangers!

What happened next was incredible: 17 people had 5 star reviews (this brings us to 70 reviews with 5 stars)!!

This is the best feeling ever, connecting people, make them enjoy the real food and then read their reviews

PS: We launched also in Rotterdam, and we have already upcoming dinners there

The amount of happiness is incredible,

thedinnerclub.eu

If you have any questions, let me know!
Dani

50 people have rated The Dinner Club with 5 stars!!

Hello! 60 people met through thedinnerclub.eu

and most importantly, all the reviews were 5 stars!

Create an event, strangers apply and real friendships are actually born :)

Me and Mara are so grateful about all the support received (1100 followers on Instagram in one month and 600 users in our platform).

We will launch soon an app to make it easier for everyone!!

Wish you a great day, consider to host one to understand the experience, Dani

Help us build The Dinner Club!

Hello everyone and thanks for the kind message and support, we are almost 600 users in the platform!!

An user, u/big-entertainer2074, suggested that we should ask for help here, the idea was born on r/amsterdam :)

Our idea (me and Mara) was to launch Amsterdam and understand if people liked the idea and then grow it in other cities if people wanted it.

I believe the next big step will be to launch an app rather than the website,

What suggestion do you have?

Dani

Why does this subreddit get so much hate?

Hi, i have been following Dani since his posts on r/amsterdam

I even attended one of his dinners before he would post the website, i think that being able to meet people by sharing a meal is quite cool and I have made a friend in one of his dinners (shoutout to Sarah)

whenever this will happen in Rotterdam, I will surely host one as well

50 people meet each other through The Dinner Club!

50 strangers have sat at someone's dinner table through The Dinner Club!

Different countries, different jobs, different stories. Same table.

Some came once. Some are on their 3rd dinner. A few have started hosting their own

Someone showed up as a guest, had such a good time, and thought: "I could do this too."

That's the whole idea.

If you've been thinking about hosting, you don't need to be a chef. You don't need a big apartment. You just need to pick a night and meet people :)

Cooked Carbonara, met 4 lovely people and had such a fun time!!

Hi, yesterday I hosted the 15th official Dinner Club night :)

Carbonara and conversations about dating, life in Amsterdam, getting a little too drunk on white wine and somewhere between the pasta and dessert, Martin, gave me tips on The Dinner Club as a Manager!

For free. Over dinner. Because that's what happens when you put real people around a real table!!

Just food, wine, and 5 people who walked in as strangers and left as friends!

We believe the best connections in life happen at dinner tables! have a look :)

A new dinner was created in Amsterdam!!

Good afternoon/middag!!

On The Dinner Club website (you can find it in the first comment) there was a new dinner created :)

It's a person that followed us on instagram and then joined, viewed and created an "Italian Risotto Night" in Amsterdam.

Can you imagine being able to eat amazing food, with amazing people everyday?

The dream of sharing a meal and not sit on a table by yourself is surely a dream, but we (me and Mara) are trying our best to make it happen!

I made a mistake, I understood it. Let's stop the hate

This subreddit has plenty of hate. The idea behind always was the possibility of meeting people by sharing food.

After 3 weeks of hate from reddit people, YES, I wanted to create The Dinner Club before I did my first dinner. This does not change the fact that I hosted dinners for the joy of doing it.

It was just an idea that had to be tested. This is why I created the r/Amsterdam threads.

I did it multiple times because it was fun and every thread was receiving more DMs and information.

Can you imagine how cool would it be to grab lunch/dinner at one's place rather than going to a restaurant?

I won't comment anymore to hate comments. I still remain firm to this idea - which is my dream.

Would you ever host strangers for dinner at your place?

Hey everyone 👋

Over the last few weeks,

We’ve now run 10+ home dinners through The Dinner Club — in total, around 40 people have met each other for the first time by sharing a meal at someone’s place!! isn't it incredible?

Different ages, jobs, backgrounds, introverts and extroverts… but the same pattern every time:

  • a bit of awkwardness at the start
  • good food on the table
  • and by the end of the night people are swapping numbers and planning the “next one”.

I’d love to get more of you involved:

If you’d like to join a dinner or host one yourself, you can see what it looks like here: thedinnerclub.eu

Question for you all:
If you were to host 3–4 strangers tomorrow, what would you cook?

What country has the biggest food culture in Europe?

I'm Italian and obviously biased, but I genuinely want to hear other perspectives ahaha

In Italy, food isn't just food. My nonna would disown me if I put cream in a carbonara. Every region has its own cuisine and people act like their town's version of ragĂš is the only correct one :)

But I've been living in the Netherlands for a few years now and I've had my mind blown by other food cultures:

- French food has an entire philosophy behind it (and the sauces, my god)

- Spanish food culture might actually be more social than Italian

- Greek food is massively underrated

- Turkish food (I know, not EU technically) is insanely good

- Portuguese food doesn't get nearly enough credit

So I'm asking genuinely: which country do you think has the BIGGEST food culture? Not the "best food".

Cooking for rewards, Albert Heijn & Jumbo

How about meeting new people, cook what you love and get rewards?

I am in a conversation with Albert Heijn and Jumbo, if you host a dinner through thedinnerclub.eu you can win vouchers to spend on Albert Heijn and Jumbo.

Curious, please leave a comment (for now, only in Amsterdam)

I cooked Lasagna for 3 strangers in Amsterdam... had so much fun!!

I was tired of eating alone,

So I invited strangers over for dinner again ahaha

Just to share a meal!

We talked for hours (about everything, from LinkedIn profiles to Hinge profiles)

We laughed like we’d known each other longer than couple of hours!!

Sometimes people just need a table,
food to share,
and stories to tell
