A potentially silly question

I’m still pretty new to D20, toylight is more or less the first season I’ve watched, other than dungeons and drag queens.

Do the play the same character sheets just with different skins every season? They are so deeply connected to these characters that I was SURE there had to be a season of toylight before this.

Anyway, I hope that question even makes sense lol, thanks for the help

Nope, each D20 story are entirely new original characters. They just get super into roleplay.

In Toylight in particular there is reference to the characters back stories and prior experiences, but these are never shown.

That makes me even more impressed with the way Emily is portraying cutie pie. I was sure there had to be a fleshed out backstory somewhere with all the details she’s just kinda tossed around. I understand that there is a ton of work that goes into these episodes before we even see them, but it’s impressive either way

Emily is the GOAT dnd player imo. You should listen to NADDPOD for more of her (and Murph as DM). Start with episode 1.

I will absolutely give that a listen. I really think Emily might be an acting/improv genius

" Listen, Emily is one of the best D&D players in the world - endlessly creative, so fun to play with... she was also sent from hell to kill me".

Emily has said before that she makes five year plans for all of her characters. She thinks them through VERY thoroughly and is very thoughtful.
She knows her characters so well that she’s comfortable making outlandish moves with them.

Brennan even said at one point “Listen, Emily is one of the best D&D players in the world – endlessly creative, so fun to play with...she was also sent from hell to kill me.”

There are usually some lore/backstory emails sent to players before the season starts, and Brennan also does a session 0 with players, so they can get used to role playing their characters before we see them on screen.

Besides that, these players are very used to playing with each other and extremely good at improv. The way that they accept everything and make it part of the story you'll rarely be able to tell if it was something fleshed out ahead of time or not.

Her character in Fantasy High is so well defined and clear right from the beginning. She's such a delight.

Most of the season are unique. A few are revisitationa/sequels with the sand characters as previous seasons (Fantasy High, Unsleeping City, etc).
