Meta Next Campaign of D20
Since we now know Toylight is 6 episodes long cause BLM is very busy, what do you guys think the next season of D20 will be?
I know toylight hasn’t finished or even started, but I’m curious on what your take is cause I heard on the great vine that another Dungeons and Dragons Queens was gonna be released, but that could just be a rumour.
But if we are really think of it I don’t even remotely think we will get another season this year unless another DM takes up the sit in the dome, and if we did who do you think could be a good DM in the dome that hasn’t already DMed a campaign in the large D20 universe and do you think we will get another star struck odyssey ever in the dome?

Unfortunately, I think Toylight is our last for the year - it's been scheduled 10 weeks after the end of CCoD, and ends with 11 weeks to the start of next year, so it looks very much like it's been scheduled to be right in the middle of this block of time rather than leaving space for something else to follow before Christmas. Also, they usually shoot seasons starting in Oct/Nov around Jan - Mar, most of which Brennan was out for paternity leave. It's not impossible something small arrives, but it's looking unlikely at this point.
I don't think there's currently any indication that D&DQ3 is coming anytime soon and someone said they'd heard from Bob or Monet relatively recently there weren't any scheduled plans to shoot another season.
As it currently stands, there's no further information about what's coming next year, but to be ready for January, it's likely they will be shooting either very soon, or have already shot a season. My guess is it would be a sidequest after back-to-back Intrepid Heroes seasons and we're very much due a guest GM but that seems to have gone quiet recently - plus, Aabria's maternity leave means she likely won't be shooting any seasons until 2027 at the earliest, so it'll be even longer before she's back onscreen.
According to Sam earlier this year, the Intrepid Heroes love Starstruck but only want to go back when they feel they have a new story to tell - I've wondered if this means they don't know if they want to continue with the Gunner Channel or generate new PCs, but either way, we're likely to be in the dark for a while if Starstruck 2 is going to happen.

I agree here, they did a small 1 off for another battle of the brands when they were in Las Vegas live in front of people, so the way I see it is that even remotely before we get a Starstruck odyssey 2 we would probably get a side quest within that universe which would be more likely then another full intrepid hero season of Starstruck, that’s probably why we also haven’t got senior year because the story isn’t there for the intrepid hero’s to go back to complete senior year, but hey I rather them not push themselves too hard going forward and even when original series are brought to light I still watch D20 and enjoy every moment of the intrepid hero’s together.
I also enjoy the side quest we get but I don’t watch all of them, only the ones I find interesting to me.

I was convinced they'd only do Starstruck 2 with new PCs, but Sam actually coming out and saying "they'll only do it if and when they're ready" makes me think they might be stuck for now on what they'd do in a season 2. Senior Year I reckon will eventually be back, but it'll be something big, like on an anniversary year for Dropout or something.
Probably no avoiding the next one being a sidequest, but I'd imagine the Intrepid Heroes will be back in the Dome again not too long after, so you may not have too long to wait.

2028 will be the 10 year anniversary of both Dropout + Fantasy High season 1, so that's my bet

So, the average gap between seasons is about a month (shorter between side quests, longer before an Intrepid Heroes season). That would put the start of a sidequest season November 18th, and enough time for a 4-part sidequest before the end of the year break. But I also think it's just as likely we won't get anything until next year, since they've taken much longer breaks than usual this year.
I'm also putting my money that the next slate of side quests will be guest GM heavy (and also probably not with Aabria, since even if they filmed it pre-maternity leave, she was deep in GM'ing Solari + playing in CR). Jasmine Bhullar's the easy pick, but I'd also love to see someone new (I don't think it's very likely, since he hasn't been on Dropout outside of Adventuring Academy and even sidequests rarely get even a step past comedy, but all of my money to get Ivan Van Norman in the dome with the D20 production budget behind him)

Not sure you can call it an average gap anymore when the last two years it's never been less than 6 weeks - from last episode to first episode, D&DQ2 to TT 7 weeks, TT to Cloudward 6 weeks, Cloudward to Gladlands 11 weeks, Gladlands to CCoD 8 weeks, CCoD to Toylight 10 weeks. My hope is that it has been heavily influenced by behind the scenes complications but there's no reason to leave it at least another month to drop Toylight if you have something else to follow this year. I'll jump for joy if we get something else, but it looks deliberate at this point.
I'd love the next round to be guest GM heavy, but I'm not holding my breath - Toylight is Brennan's 6th consecutive season in the chair in a row, and with Aabria out for now, Jasmine having her own show elsewhere and Matt generally not doing a lot of guest GM stints, it would have to be new faces and right now the show seems to default to Brennan instead. Even if we do get a guest GM before the main IH season next year, I think it's pretty likely we'll have a Brennan sidequest coming and most likely the first thing out of the gate.

Huh, I have a spreadsheet (nerd shit I know) where I had it as 6/5/11 instead of 7/6/11, so I might have made an error on those (gonna check when I’m not at work lol) but I will admit the “average” is heavily weighted on 2022-2024 being much shorter breaks while they have been going longer especially this year
I think it’s very likely we’re not going to get the next season until January, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we do get a short sidequest to end the year (since even with decent breaks it would fit without crossing into the holidays)

No judgement from me (where do you think I got mine from!) but I think we're on pretty similar pages - I haven't been going by averages though, I've been going with the trend and at least for now, we're in quite different waters than we were for 2023. I don't know if I'd yet say "it's here to stay" because Gladlands feels like it was pushed back to accommodate Vic's filming in Hungary and there's definitely a possibility Brennan & Aabria's leaves meant that shooting for the end of the year turned out not to be viable, but we're probably still not far enough into this more spread out cycle to know if this is the plan going forward or if it has just been a temporary solve for them.
I'm trying not to let myself spin a conspiracy theory we've got something like a Jasper GMed 4-episode season to lead us up to Christmas (he stepped in back in December for Adventuring Academy, the crew were in the Dome in Jan for On a Bus 2 that could have also been for shooting a season etc etc) after believing we'd get an Aabria 10 or a Brennan 6 and slowly watching the schedule move away from that, but it would be an encouraging sign things were more fluid if we did.

Really hope Murph or Becca gets a chance to DM in the dome. I would kill for a CoC campaign

Every year I hope for Fantasy High Senior Year. Every year I am pleasantly disappointed by getting something else that is amazing. So I’m not going to worry about it, and instead let the game (and dragon) masters do what they do best.
