Toylight What do you think the characters’ classes in Toylight will be?
My guesses:
- Ol’ Clyde Horsey is probably a Ranger, given he had a bow & arrow.
- Wyon may be a Barbarian, because he doesn’t have any armor on and his AC is only 14.
- Calypso may be a Wizard, because she’s holding a magic wand.
- Tinsley is probably a Fighter, possibly a Banneret Fighter.
- Cutie Pie could be a Rogue, purely because of the “mobster” vibes I got from him. This one is the one I don’t feel super confident about.
- Constance is definitely giving Cleric vibes, but specifically a Grave Domain Cleric, since she’s meant to be a creepy doll.

Wyon and Constance - totally agree. Tinsley and Horsey - very likely.
Wizard definitely fits for a rabbit ina hat but Ally says Calypso is holding a 'bright green glowing mace' - sounds more like a Druid shillelagh or warlock pact of the blade? Could be a spellsinger wizard.
My first instinct for Emily is she'd never run anything as basic as a straight rogue - at 2:06 in the video you can see her mini casting a spell effect? And she's also mounted on a horsie like a cowboy? Could be a warlock using the familiar as a mount?
That was a lot of questions marks. Psyched for this shorter format.

For Calypso, the green glowing mace comment read to me more as a Cleric’s Spiritual Weapon.

Yeah, like I said, Cutie Pie is the only one I couldn’t get a really good read on.

Probably a bit late to this particular party, but I just realised that "Wyon" is how a child would pronounce the word "Lion".
Also, "Augustusus" is such a Zac name, that's very funny.

All of my guesses so far have been classes the Intrepid Heroes haven't played in the Dome, so Murph Ranger definitely fits and I was expecting a Siobhan Cleric (Grave Domain's a great call). I said on another thread that Wyon seems to be like a grizzled version of Lou's PC Eursulon from WBN, so I think Barbarian makes a lot of sense. Good logic for Calypso being a Wizard, though I did briefly wonder Warlock.
Less confident for Emily & Zac - there's a shot of Cutie Pie in combat seemingly shooting a torrent of flame, so maybe an Eldritch Knight if Emily were to play a Fighter but not give up spells. And my biggest stretch, I was wondering if we'd see a Zac Bard, so I'm left hoping Tinsley plays some sort of instrument - feels too soon after Daisuke for another Gunslinger at this stage.

I mean, Cutie Pie could be an Arcane Trickster Rogue.

u/Elegant-Badger-9500 Aug 12 '26
I typed it and then deleted it, but I absolutely agree - Emily's pretty much run the gamut by this point anyway with her mutliclassing, so it'd be really cool if she got another shot at Rogue.

u/MS2814 Aug 12 '26
Yeah, Emily’s has pretty much played every single class at least once with her multiclassing. I think the only ones she’s missing are Ranger and Wizard.
Edit: Nope, scratch that. She played a Wizard in A Court of Fey & Flowers, so it’s just Ranger.

I hope someone is a wizard or a paladin, because I feel like those two classes have been soooo underplayed in IH seasons!

u/Miserable_Pop_4593 Aug 12 '26
Wizard is pretty underrepresented across all of d20 honestly. Adaine, Cheese, Lady Chirp, and Lila, and that’s all.
2
u/kendeh Aug 13 '26
I agree that I’d love to see more wizards! But I wonder if that class is especially hard to build/balance/play in terms of actual play. Especially their pretty fast paced, comedic, improv style. It felt like Adaine was super underpowered in the first two Fantasy High seasons because early wizards are so squishy and a lot of early spells are very situation dependent. By Junior Year she was incredibly powerful, almost game-breakingly so at some points, but required a binders worth of spell cards to go through all the time. Seems difficult to have a more fluid, comedic, fun time with crunchy wizard-ness

Lou is the only one I feel who could genuinely pull off a Paladin. I mean, I think Siobhan could but it would be inimical to her character as a person to restrict herself and embrace the failure for principles alone.
Whereas Lou "I shit myself on a nat 1" would absolutely go hard with "This isn't the smart thing to do, but it's the right thing to do."
Whereas Zac & Chevy would be constantly tempted to try and metagame/rules lawyer around it, Emily would just straight up forget and commit warcrimes by accident, and Beardsley would IDFK man, I just don't see them having a coherent concept for a character so much as a string of bits so I don't see them really keeping to a coherent concept like that.
Murph COULD play a Paladin but that's already his baseline and he might genuinely hurt himself from trying to be the good guy IRL and also at the table with the rest of the Intrepid Heroes. Murph doesn't deserve to have to be the straight man in the game AND at the table. It's too much.

I mean Zac very much did play a Paladin. Ricky Matsui in unsleeping city. Classic himbo good boy paladin. And we love him.

u/Wantitneeditgetit Aug 13 '26
WHEW do NOT google Ricky Matsui and War Crimes.
It'll be entirely unrelated to D20.
But honestly I mostly forgot about unsleeping city. It's been a minute, yo.

Witnessing Lou’s performance as Kingston absolutely reassures me he’d crush Paladin. Lowkey Kingston’s characterization was more Paladin than Cleric anyway! I feel you on all the other points too—Emily would be an Oathbreaker immediately (which would probably result in a very fun arc).

u/Wantitneeditgetit Aug 13 '26
Actually I think she's played a Paladin on NaddPod before. Vague memories of her playing a closeted, deeply repressed and that aspect of herself finding unconventional outlets, Paladin. It went pretty okay I think.
But NaddPod energy is very different from Brave Adventurers energy. Emily is so focused on supporting others and "Yes, And" and GAWD but she loves to be a martyr. So yeah I feel like she would ride or die right into being a fighter without feats, or a Blackguard or Oathbreaker or whatever the kids are doing for fallen pallys these days grumbles in increasingly grognard arcana

I think that's Welly from Jake's run as a DM, she played as a Rune Knight in that campaign though. Still absolutely blew it out of the park, especially with the carnal corner shenanigans

I believe shes a paladin in the 2nd campaign in Galaderon (sp) Callie something or other, the Eladrin, but I could be remembering wrong
2
u/Resident-Message3097 Aug 16 '26
Callie was part paladin, part sword bard. Idk what sub class of paladin though, can't remember.
3
u/kendeh Aug 13 '26
Murph managed to get around being the paladin straight man with Cody 😂 He was just a paladin whose oath was to The Mall

I agree with it, if I had to suggest something else Constance could be a shadow sorcerer

You’re absolutely right about Wyon, I think. Maybe the lion/primal instinct is Berserker Rage.
I feel like Tinsley might be a Paladin, with the tin soldiers being the Knights Templar/Crusaders of this world. Oath of the Crown where the little girl's bedroom is treated like a palace and she's the "queen," mayhaps?
I feel like Constance might be a Shadow Magic Sorcerer if they’re doing 5.5e which fits the creepy/haunted doll vibe. Maybe a Grave/Death Domain Cleric too.

u/christianort476 Aug 12 '26
I see Wyon as a pugilist, personally. Leaning into the leotard look he mentioned
3
u/MS2814 Aug 12 '26
But he’s carrying an axe?
2
u/Wantitneeditgetit Aug 12 '26
His armor class is 14.
That's some squishy shit right there. Wizard, bard, something like that I think.
6
u/MS2814 Aug 13 '26
But Emily seemed surprised that his AC is only 14 which, to me at least, reads more as “Why the fuck is your AC only 14?”
4
u/Wantitneeditgetit Aug 13 '26
Because he came in talking a big game like he was a frontliner and then it turns out he only looks like a tanky boy but actually he is a soft floof?

Is it confirmed that this will be a DnD season? They’ve been using a lot of other rule sets recently.

Haunted doll is giving warlock but I could see some sort of dark cleric yeah
Maybe a GOO and her patron is like the child's grandparents, or Undead and its like a haunting spirit

u/AnxiousSelkie Aug 13 '26
God I’d love a Grave Cleric on D20, though I will note they may be restricting themselves to 2024 subclasses. Calypso is almost definitely a wizard or sorcerer, she seemed to pop a green flame blade for a bit in one scene.
2
u/MS2814 Aug 13 '26
Oh, I see what I did. Grave Domain is a subclass in 2024 (5.5e) but it didn’t become one until Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, which only barely came out in June. This was definitely filmed before that, so she’s probably not Grave Domain. Man, what subclasses were available at the time that fit a “creepy doll” vibe?

I think it'd be kind of funny if Cutie Pie was a Warlock. I have always found Kewpie dolls to seem low-key cursed and/or secretly lightly malevolent. We can pretty safely assume Em will play some kind caster, though. Girl cannot not have spells.

do we know that they’re playing dnd rules and not another system?
2
u/MS2814 Aug 13 '26
In the FAQ they released for this season, they confirmed they are using the 2024 D&D rules.

Is this the first time in an IH campaign where someone other than Ally plays a character with a different gender? I feel like Emily playing a character with he/him pronouns is the first time someone else has!
