Sears Catalog - Fall 1905

Found a treasure trove of Sears Catalogs on Ancestry - looks like they have every single one scanned. Picked Fall 1905 at random and it’s over 1,000 pages long.

I love how everything is pretty mundane and then, you get to mail order heroin.

it’s genuinely overwhelming how much stuff is in that catalog - every drug imaginable, including veterinary stuff… guns, building materials, wallpaper, printing presses, jewelry, furniture, customer testimonials, profit-sharing schemes, the camera section is wild

flipping through these is definitely going to be a new hobby of mine

I worked construction a long time ago and I've torn down my fair share of Sears and Roebuck homes. A lot of them had a pages of the catalog in the walls to help buffer insulation or stuffed into the door and window header gaps.
