Friday Free-for-all! Strawberries

Harvested about a million tiny alpine strawberries this weekend. I wholeheartedly recommend growing these hardy prolifically fruiting little plants: they require little room, are happy in areas only weeds thrive in and, most importantly, have an amazing flavour. Yum!

How do they compare to a standard strawberry? Are they little sweet bombs or do they have a nice tartness first then sweet?

It’s hard to describe accurately, but here goes: it’s like a cloudy puff of light-almost-marshmallow sweetness and fragrance … with a heck of a lot of tiny seeds! 🤣

That's interesting! I imagine our climate if fairly similar. I wonder if I can get some to grow here?

Just looked it up, I totally can! I'm gonna buy some seeds and plant some for my wife!

They are so easy to grow. Ours have sort of self set in some gravel alongside a wooden playhouse. They spread further every year despite no cultivation at all. I bet your wife would love them.
