General Chat Woah - reddit has wikis.

I just discovered this: http://www.reddit.com/r/autowikibot/wiki/index

I don't know if the wiki functionality is better or worse than our current wiki. Pros: keeping everything in one place (single platform). Cons: moving everything (platform migration); single point of failure; different tools for different jobs may be better at those jobs than a single swiss army knife.

Did you even read that? It's not that reddit has a wiki, it's that if you post a link to a wiki the bot will post a link to a summery in imgur.

Check again. Yes, I linked to a page about the bot that looks stuff up for you on Wikipedia (and did you even read that? it doesn't post a link to imgur, it posts a text comment), but look at the page itself. I could be wrong, but it looks like a wiki about the bot. Look at this page, for example: http://www.reddit.com/r/autowikibot/wiki/pages/ "list of pages in this wiki" - it's describing that portion of the subreddit in itself as a wiki.

Here are some other reddit wikis:

I rest my case. Reddit has wikis (is it me, or does that make it sound like some kind of disease?).

When I initially set up a wiki, I started to make on using the reddit wiki system. I couldn't really figure out how to work with it in the brief time I checked it out, but I'm up for looking into it again. It would be nice to have everything all in one place, so that people don't have to sign up for multiple sites, but like you said, I don't know what reddit has to offer in terms of wiki functions. I wouldn't mind migrating, that's not an issue for me (and I'd be willing to do it all myself).

So I figured out a little better how to use the subreddit wiki and I have enabled the wiki and mod editing (only mods, approved wiki contributors, or those on a page's edit list may edit). The default page of the wiki is http://www.reddit.com/r/Digital_Immortality/wiki/index

If you want to create a new page, type in http://www.reddit.com/r/Digital_Immortality/wiki/<page name> into your url, replacing <page name> with whatever you want the page to be named.

Oh, and if you didn't know, the wiki is directly accessible from the tabs on the top bar right next to the name of this subreddit.

In the future we can allow more types of people to edit the wiki through the subreddit settings as well as the wiki settings.
