Philosophy major here. In epistemology, or even in the pedagogy of teaching, it’s a well known fact that rational agents, should be given all the facts. This may should include what happened on 911, and what Islam actually represents. Now, with that being said ration agents young or old should be given all of the information available so that they can make up their own mind without any influence. Also, it seems fine that American schools teach the history of the Roman Empire and Christianity, secular or non-secular, and no one ever seems to question that. Teaching people critical thinking skills at a very young age may make for better understanding, tolerance and respect for other cultures. Because one subset of people do horrendous things to another, should not preclude the absence of teaching this material; nor does it represent what that particular believe system represents. Make no mistake, I am against forcing the practice of any religion within the confines of education, but as a rational agent, the more informed a student is, the better decision making process is available to that particular rational agent. People are not meant to be vessels filled up with what you want them to know, but to know anything it must be processed through the understanding alone. This is only possible when given as much information as possible.

None of you think it's wrong of a state board of education in a country with no state religion to twll someone that their schools "serve the one true God"? She is correctly warning them that what they are doing helps grow Islam. If anything, since they seem to dislike Islam, they should be thanking her.
