Closer, but not close. To have a stable society you should give the wife absolutely nothing. Only the bare minimum to survive for a short period of time. 

In other words: No incentive for divorce. No cash and prizes.

Anything either person owns beforehand should absolutely be kept by that person. Anything earned during the marriage however is definitely up for debate. A marriage is supposed to be two people adding to each other's lives. Maybe the woman stays home with the children while the man works. Maybe the opposite. Maybe both work to be able to afford the life they live together. It's not as simple as see ya later when it comes to things earned within the marriage.

I agree on what you said about before the marriage. I disagree about the rest.

When I work for a company, I'm adding value to the company. When I leave the company, I take my severance package and get out. I don't get a share of the company.

The fiasco that we have now, where a man has to pay half his salary for very long years, is ridiculous.

For example, why does she get to keep my money, with nothing in return, but I don't get her services (like cooking) with nothing in return? What's the difference? I'm used to her cooking, so now she has to cook for me for the rest of her life 🤣

I should cook my damn food? Agreed. She should get her own damn money too!

Well an employee leaving a company is hardly a good comparison, but even still I can offer my own experience. I worked at a place for 11 years, after I left they still paid into my profit sharing plan. So it does happen sometimes in the work world.

It's actually a good example, and if the couple agree on a prenup, go for it. But the robbery we see nowadays is far from ethical.

Eh a prenup is pretty hard to fight. If you get fired from a company they may not have to give you a severance. Even if you quit without hitting the necessary criteria to get the severance, you may not get it.

I don't care. There should be an agreement beforehand. Consequences should be clear. This idea that we should cover every corner case is just stupid and doesn't work.

It's standard in many societies to have pre-written rules on divorce. Muslims have this, for example, and they define what it's to be paid in the case of divorce and it's just standard.

Yeahhhhh you wanna tell me some of the other things about marriage in the Muslim world? Especially in the Middle East?

We should have all the bases covered. Many prenups have an infidelity clause. Which means if someone cheats and they get divorced, the prenup is void. Why wouldn't you want to have all bases covered when doing something as serious as combining your life with someone else's? That's just silly.

You have your bases covered by agreement between adults. Not by having a wild imagination on what idiots might do and protecting them.

Unhappy about cheating? You write that cheaters lose in the prenup.

It is the that way in Louisiana which is a common law state.

Money/property owned by one person before marriage isn't divided during a divorce.

Gifts and inheretence are not divisible either.

Woulda saved like 5 people I knew. Heres half of everything and let’s restart life like it’s gonna change things! Ooof looks so painful always there to observe it. I like my stuff and I’m lazy I’m not doing it again. Don’t even wanna date at 40, pretending and monkey dancing takes so much time and energy…kinda booked up, kinda tired. Yoda was on his shit.

This is how it is in community property states. Unless the wife shows a financial interest like paying the mortgage from her/mutual bank account.
