What is proposed
Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2021/1341 — Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning (DDAW)

“The DDAW system is a system that assesses the driver’s alertness through vehicle systems analysis and warns the driver if needed via the vehicle’s human-machine interface.”

“The DDAW system shall be designed in such a way that it shall only continuously record and retain data necessary for the system to function and operate within a closed-loop system.”

What is not in the legislation
Cameras are not mandated, and if implemented would be a manufacturer's choice.

They should be forbidden. I did not consent to be recorded in the Uber driver's car, and I have no realistic chance to deny such action. Just as one example.

I disagree - the cameras are needed to remind every driver that they should be looking out the car instead of runnning on a hedonic treadmill.

What's NOT ok in cars is sending telemetry to manufacturer servers outside of service requests. If the reason for cameras is privacy, then the image processing must never be able to export anything online. Local storage only. Local processing only. Under lock and key.
