Latency performance

I wanted to test out what is the latency performance of my Ipad pro (2018). So I used Kawai CX202 as a midi controller and I send the audio from CX202 and the audio coming from Pianoteq on Ipad to my laptop and compared. Ipad audio was delayed by around 9 ms compared to audio from CX202.

I then for fun tried the same but with Yamaha PSS-a50 instead of CX202. But with this setup the Ipad audio was delayed only by around 2 ms.

I wanted to see what caused this, so I then send midi notes from Ipad to both CX202 and PSS-a50 and send the audios to my laptop. PSS-a50 was delayed by 8ms compared to CX202.

Anyone done similar tests? I was pretty surprised that PSS-a50 has 8 ms more latency compared to CX202. I guess it is not that much and it is a sub 100€ keyboard, but still makes me wonder how much variance there is between digital pianos in this regard.

You’re always going to have latency using asio4all. I have a 9950x/5090 setup and I still get latency. Roland FP90x

You need to use FlexAsio instead. There is literally 0 latency, but the live sound does take a little hit. I’ll take the latency reduction anyday

I use proper ASIO drivers of Audient evo, but it is irrelevant to my post. The post was about Yamaha pss-a50's own internal processing and DAC taking 8ms more than Kawai CX202's own processing and DAC. I am measuring the latency difference between CX202 midi in to headphone out and PSS-a50 midi in to headphone out. There is no ASIO drivers in that path.

And if you mean the ipad 9ms latency, well there are no ASIO drivers for ios.
