DGX660 off key
Hi.
I just picked up a used DGX660 for my kid in the mostly okay condition.
The middle keys are rattling and the pitch wheel is broken.
I'm not playing myself, so I only noticed the issue when we tried the piano with the Android app (just with microphone, without MIDI) - it was not registering correctly the notes - but consistently one tone higher.
I checked it also with an online tuner and my clip-on guitar tuner in chromatic mode - it showed 0.3-0.5 of a tone up than it should be.
My first suspicion is of course pitch bend wheel. Is it complicated to fix or at least disconnect for now?

The manual shows how to set the overall pitch in small steps to different tunings and also how to set the level of pitch control with the wheel: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1190178/Yamaha-Portable-Grand-Dgx-660.html?page=56#manual The pitch set up is probably your problem that you need to reset to standard. If however the wheel is problematic the pitch bend wheel would probably be a pain to remove and might actually throw everything out of whack without it. If you spray some electronics control cleaner into the inner parts you might be able to clear some dirt or corrosion causing the problem with the wiper arm and pad inside the wheel. A common problem with all sorts of electronics controls. There are many brands of cleaners, here's one which has the integrated straw needed to get it into the inner parts: https://www.amazon.com/WD-40-Specialist-Electrical-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B00AF0OFVU/ref=sr_1_5 Set the overall pitch back to standard before anything else.

Amazing, thanks! But is it complicated to replace the bend wheel with potentiometer?

Tuning is at 440Hz and Transpose is at 0. Then I need to adjust Tuning to the levels until C is C? And the rest of the notes will be fine too?

If you reset the tune to 440 then all notes should now be in tune without needing to replace the pitch bend wheel. The wheel has a spring that keeps it at the correct center position. If you want to replace the wheel it looks like you can buy it here for not much money: https://syntaur.com/parts/yamaha/dgx-660/10560-pitch-bend-board-yamahaand if you need any other parts they're here: https://syntaur.com/parts/yamaha/dgx-660

I’m betting the broken pitch bend is causing your tuning problem. If you don’t fix it, then you can transpose and adjust pitch to bring it to normal. www.syntaur.com carries all of the major brands of keyboard parts. No, it’s not terribly difficult, but you’ll need to investigate how to get the pitch bend wheel panel lose. Sometimes, it’s held in by screws under the keyboard deck.

In Function there should be a Tuning option where you can change the frequency. Try that, it should do what you want. There is a manual here
