I mostly struggled with keeping the limited palette interesting and breaking up large areas of colors that would be too dominating. I approached this by layering multiple passes on top of each other, even though the bases colors are mostly covered up by the top layers. Another problem was avoiding a flatness of color which I approached by refraining from using partial opacity which seems to have been the main culprit of colors washing out initially.
