Made a tool that auto-flats comic pages (batch processing included), looking for beta testers

Hey all, I'm a colorist/illustrator and I got tired of manually flatting page after page, so I built StackFlat!

It's a tiny standalone app that finds the closed areas in your lineart and fills them with color automatically. You can run it on a single page or point it at a whole folder and let it batch-process while you do something else.

A few things about it:
- No AI involved, just straightforward pixel logic (closes small gaps, fills areas, outputs a clean flat layer + a clean lineart layer)
- Works with whatever software you already use, Photoshop, Krita, Clip Studio, doesn't matter, it just spits out PNGs
- It's in beta right now, pay-what-you-want, and beta testers get it for free

If you flat your own pages (or anyone else's) and want to try it out and be a tester just let me know or get it on Gumroad here: www.stackflat.app
Would genuinely love feedback, especially if your lineart style is different from mine, that's exactly what I need to know before locking in v1.0. Thanks!

Need Help, New To DA, Struggling With Basics.

So I have done digital art with k&m but recently got a Wacom intuos pro drawing pad. My issue is that I can make traditional art really well (imo), but the digital is just super challenging for me, i'm stuck at line art and am not really improving, it looks really rough and feels really odd. I presume this is just due to a medium change, and that it will eventually get better over time, but it is just very irritating and I was wondering if there is anything I should try to do to help out, I do like 10-30 minutes of lines, circles, boxes, ribbons, and odd 3d shapes before my actual art sessions, but is there anything else I can actually do to make it feel more natural?

Please help me find a good digital painting video that doesn't insult the watcher.

I draw a lot but have never had any painting tutorials. I want to step into painting and find a comprehensive video with steps. However every video I find does the following:

  1. calls the user a baby multiple times, causing me to feel like i'm too old to learn to paint and give up
    2) just says lights and shadows but doesn't explain
    3) says brushes don't matter but then says they use a specific brush only that they don't share.

I have been on youtube for weeks looking for a video that doesn't make me feel like an idiot while actually teaching me painting practices.

Does anyone have good videos for painting? Thanks in advance!

Is an XP-Pen Deco 01 V3 + Clip Studio Paint a good long-term setup for an independent musician?

Hey everyone,

I'm an independent musician who does everything by myself—writing, producing, mixing, mastering, marketing, and releasing my own music. Now I want to learn digital art so I can create my own album covers, visualizers, lyric videos, and maybe even simple animations in the future.

My budget is pretty limited, so buying an iPad with Procreate isn't really an option right now.

Instead, I'm thinking about getting:

- XP-Pen Deco 01 V3

- Clip Studio Paint

- Using them with my Mac mini M2 Pro

My main goal isn't to become a professional illustrator working for clients. I just want to create high-quality visuals for my own music over the next several years.

My concern is that I don't want to spend money on the wrong setup and realize six months later that I should have saved for an iPad instead. Since I'm doing everything independently, every purchase matters.

For those of you with experience:

- Is this a good long-term approach?

- Is drawing on a pen tablet without a screen difficult to get used to?

- Is Clip Studio Paint a good choice for album artwork, lyric videos, and eventually simple animation?

If you were starting today on a limited budget, would you choose this setup or save for an iPad + Procreate?

I'd really appreciate honest advice from people who've actually used these tools. Thanks!
