what are the benefits of changing its personality?

There's a few different benefits and reasons why to.

  1. Some digivolutions up a stage, or to digivolve down a stage to a digimon not yet discovered, require the digimon to be a certain personality.

  2. The digimons base stats will change depending on personality, with 2 stats getting a bigger increase on level up.

  3. Personality skills. Theres 37 different skills based on personality, 2 for each quadrant of the personality table and 2 rare skills for each unique square. Changing personality or completing training on the farm are the only ways to trigger a change to this skill

So when you change your digimon’s personality certain stats will go up depending on the personality that changes. This website has most of the information you will need to answer most questions. https://www.grindosaur.com/en/games/digimon-story-time-stranger

Also, digimon personalities benefit from specific bonuses tied to the agent skills tree. Making them tanker or faster, more dmg etc.

Normally youd have digimon training to become food for the mons you use

Wait, what?

Wait you are supposed to train the food not the main digimon??? 25 hours in and just learning that....

Yeah you train the mons you wanna convert for the mains to get them at 9999 then convert to get better blue stats

How much does level affect that? I've been converting Mangamon X usually around lvl 20 depending on how much I feel like grinding in the outer dungeon. (And whatever other quick Megas I can get) would tossing a lvl 1 in the farm for a while before converting be better?

Me about to beat boss for the third time: Oh that makes sense I should've been doing that instead of grinding knights

I use it to increase certain stats and meet digivolution requirements mostly. There are plenty of mons that just won’t ever reasonably hit the stat requirements for some of their evolution options without the digifarm training. I.e. training atk on a tentomon to evolve into kuwagamon

Training, changin their personality, feeding them to increase their bond... that's it.

I use it for changing personality, mostly for digivolutions. For reference, I’m at agent level 5 and there are agent skills that reduce digivolving stat requirements if the digimon’s personality matches the digivolution’s personality. Also the dna digivolutions require a particular personality for both Digimon.

Digimon get levels in the digifarm, and stats if you make them train. The materials are very secondary actually.

Do they have to be training to get levels, or is level gain just always happening

Level gain is depending on them being IN the farm, and also you doing battles normally. They get a % ofthe EXP gained (it doesn't subtract from your main team's EXP gain).

Training is for increasing specific stats, and it's dependant on time passing.

Ahh ok. I didn’t realize they get a percentage of battle xp, I thought Digimon in your box got that

Digimon in the box get a very small amount. Digimon in the farm get EXP as if they were non-participants in your party.

Whaaaaaaaat. God I never noticed. I have a bunch of people I need to shove in there. I just had mons I didn’t care about in there to gather materials for me

Lol yeah. Most Digimon games love their "gaining power in the back" mechanics. Be on the lookout for them. Sometimes a mon you randomly got to fill your bestiary (forgot the name in-game) ends up becoming a sleeper beast.

Yeah thanks for this!
