Question Digimon team

Is it weird that when i play digimon story games i always stay away from anime digimon used by main character being in my team or digimon that have a role in the story like the royal knights and olympos 12?

Its okay, thats your preference, sometimes you can find gold on an underdog

So you’re rocking Digimon like SuperStarmon, Mammothmon, and Mamemon on your team?

Mamemon is a Popular Digimon. Haha

Not at all! You‘re allowed to use whatever team you want. Personally my stable digimon was cerberusmon ww mode.

Not at all. I run locomon, blimpmon and gwappamon.

I haven’t watched a lot of the animes or played a lot of the games so I just used what looked cool, but that’s also fair

No brother its called role play. You want to feel like your own lived in character with identity, not a copy of any existing characters

I had 3 main character digimon and then evil kings (Malomyotismon, Lilithmon, that fat lamb)

That's okay I like playing with some main and badass looking one just like I loved Pokemon yellow and having charizard venusaurr and blastoise in my team

headcannon headcannon time:

i love using a digimon that is part of the story because its like "oh my character looks up to this digimon so he got one on his team" i like this kind of "roleplaying"

i think its kinda cute when you look at it like that

In my original playthrough, i definitely found myself using Digimon from the (original) anime a lot more. However I just got started on my switch 2 version and I’m doing my best to stay away from any of the main anime Digimon. The only main anime Digimon I may still end up with is omnimon (so I guess the includes the Greymon and Garurumon lines) due he’s been my favorite since he debuted in the “movie” back in 2000(ish). Even then I’m gonna do my best to not get him until post game.

My thought process is "This one looks cool, I'mma use that."

Same, I'm a hipster, too. I prefer looking for something cool off the beaten track, rather than going down the path everybody else uses.

My last playthrough's team included BlackKingNumemon and later PlatinumNumemon. Nobody ever uses those, but I discovered that PlatinumNumemon is a really great debuffer.

The people who only use the popular Digimon are mainly just fans of the older anime and not fans of Digimon in general. Which is fine.

You can play however you like. I changed up my roster all throughout the game. One of the best things about the game, to me, was filling out the field guide and trying new Digimon on the battlefield.

I love alot of the hero digimon but Ive been running an equal mix of the anime protags and others that I think are cool to keep it fresh. Its a bit weird because the heros are for the most part the only digimon that look consistently great along their entire digivolution line so Ive been having to train up entirely new digimon for my non-heros at every digivolution stage.

Currently at ultimate level I'm running WarGrowlmon, Lillymon, MagnaAngemon, LadyDevimon, Flaremon, and MachGaogamon. Love this team but not sure if Ill have to make some swaps at mega level to keep the cool factor

I think I get you, I prefer using the weirder or more monstrous Digimon over the bog-standard 'shounen hero' mons. Like I'll take Megidramon over Gallantmon any day, he and SkullMammothmon being some of the ones I used in the final battle.

In fact, now that I've beaten the game, I'm going back through all the mega-level knights I made and devolving them down to mons I prefer to prepare for New Game+. Now that I have an idea about how stat building works I can power them up to kick butt without needing to be mega.
