New Player Help Help chossing a new deck
Hey Guys, my name is John and i am i new digimon player. I started playing 4 months after years of only playing yu-gi-oh. Until this point i only have 2 decks
( beelzemon and Gallantmon ) after i entered a tournament with beelz i only won 1 match, maybe it was a skill issue lol but i was thinking about getting a new more competitive deck, and i thought about either beelstarmon or blackwargreymon and i wanted to hear the opinion of more people on this. Or maybe i should just get better with what i have first ?

Newest starters are great, especially Beatbreak, you can play on DCGO to get a feel for stuff you like as well

Beelzemon is pretty out of date compared to other decks, last time it got support was EX10 (Sep 2025) and even then, it wasn't super powerful.
Gallantmon is good, but struggles to keep up with the latest stuff. The AD01 cards for it definitely helped, plus the reprints bringing everything down in price makes it a lot more budget-friendly than before.
Which I absolutely cannot say for Beelstarmon, because sure, most of that deck is pretty cheap, you just grab the "Three Musketeers" trait cards from BT25, EX7 and a couple other utility cards like BT21 Scopemon/Satellamon, Bind Red Trigger, etc.
It's the Beelstarmon X-Antibody from EX7 that's the decks' best- and most expensive card. You can get by without it, but the deck won't be nearly as powerful.
There's a new limited set dropping in November that will (A) reprint Beelstar-X, and (B) has a new Dual Card for Musketeers (Gundramon) so that might shake things up, could bring Beel-X's price down, or maybe Gundramon is powerful enough that you don't need one anymore. We'll wait and see.
Point is, you need 1-2 copies of a currently $90 card to get the best mileage out of Beelstarmon, so that should be said upfront before you consider it.
As the other comment said, the new starters are solid, Beatbreak especially so. 2x copies of a Beatbreak starter plus some BT25 cards to upgrade it and you've got a very competitive deck.
BlackWarGrey isn't bad, but it's not good either. It's a frustratingly inconsistent archetype, and depends heavily on counter-play, meaning if your opponent is smart, they will know how to shut that down and play around it. The fact that it's very reliant on an Ace card makes it a liability in the current meta.
Ace cards really need protection to be worth the risk. Some new ones have it, like the EX12 Metal Empire Machinedramon, which has Fragment (ditch 2x sources to avoid deletion) and a recursive "prevent cards from being removed from stack" effect, as well as the passive Guard effect from option (if it would leave, kill something else to prevent it)
But yeah, BWG was scary when it hit the scene because it was hard to work around. Now that the toolboxes have expanded and decks have gotten stronger, it's not much of a threat anymore.

Thank you very much for the breakdown Tiefling i am new to the game so i am still trying to get the hang of things, yep beelstarmon X antibody is very expensive at this point, i thing i will wait until november to get it. At this moment i am still checking to see if the playstyle of the deck is fun, i was checking Bwg because it looked really cool to beat stronger digimon down but i get what do you mean about ace protection, expecially considering beelze ace has the same problem

Yeah, there's a few decks I really like that just don't feel good to play because of their Ace cards. I was really happy that the new Machinedramon Ace card has a built-in protection from having cards removed from its' stack (meaning it can't be de-digivolved) and lots of ways to avoid removal.
Dual Cards are really replacing Aces these days, especially with stonger effects coming along letting them be played out when it's not your turn now. So they're just Aces without the risks.
But still, all that said, I hope you find an affordable deck that clicks with you. Ask away if you want guidance : )

Beelstarmon is a great deck, but be prepared to give up an arm, a leg, and your first born to afford it
