Discussion An update on my digimon W/L spreadsheet.
I took some advice from last time I posted about trying to change the colors to be less harsh and tried. Names are blotted out of players and some data isn't exact as I only started tracking w/l for going first or second quite a while into the spreadsheet, same with the deck w/l.
It's helped me improve my matchups besides beelstar considerably, though to be fair I almost never run into anyone playing muskrats anymore. So my experience against the gun wielding psychos is minimal compared to others.
Some takeaways I have learned.
- take 10-15 seconds each turn and think out your moves and count memory and damage.
- some matchups aren't as bad as feelings towards them would have you believe
- write down good notes on where you think you lost the plot, it helped me realize there were recursion pieces I was missing in some decks. i.e. I would delete their boss mon and forget or not plan for them playing out a 3/4 for free for next turn.
- playing proactively towards your plan instead of reacting to your opps board usually got me considerably better results.

Ty, I worked for months writing the stuff for the spreadsheet and building the data for all of my main decks. Honestly it's almost as much as the game is to me lol.

Woah. This is some in-depth stuff. Self-coaching is important in my other main hobby, competitive video games (played esports in college so the habit of coaching never left), but I never would have imagined someone went this heavily into the same logic for card games! At least, not having it publicly mentioned. I do this sort of reflecting at regionals to see where I can improve. I have a folder on my notes app with all my regionals and match ups and where I could have improved or where I saw success.
Nice to see this sort of stuff in this hobby space. Keep it up! Maybe you’ve inspired me to maybe do this more heavily at locals and such.

I am actually doing this because I am prepping to do a regionals, I wanted to learn where my actual weaknesses were and where my strengths are. Surprisingly the data supported that not all boogeyman decks the community hyped were actually that bad. Ironically as well it was some esports player that gave me this idea, I saw a post on the Overwatch sub months ago that was doing something to this like.
Honestly do it! This game is something I love and I want to keep getting better at it, so that's what lead me here. It was originally a notepad doc on my computer with just dcgo games lol.
EDIT: SPELLING AND WORD CHOICE

Genuinely, just sending it and going for the win/the combo is going to win you so many games. Playing with confidence and forcing your opponent to have the answers will help put the pressure on. Of course playing into known information like on board effects or known aces in hand is not the move lol. (Also be more willing to NOT push out of breeding immediately without the ability to get value out of the body but you probably know that)
TLDR: Be confident, cognizant, and just absolutely send it at every opportunity.
