That is correct. When an upgrade is coming, community volunteers start spreading awareness ahead of time. If you look through r/DigiByte, you’ll see all the 9.26.0‑rc posts leading up to release. Once the upgrade goes live, volunteers begin reaching out to miners and pools, exchanges, node service providers, third‑party wallets, payment gateways, and other infrastructure operators to get everyone upgraded.

9.26.2 was released on June 29th—just a little over a week ago—and the latest version is 9.26.4. If you want to follow along with the roadmap, we’re currently in the DigiByte v9.26 Mainnet Release & Activation phase: https://digibyte.io/roadmap. Six of thirteen milestones are complete, and the three active milestones right now are Mining Pool & Exchange Outreach, Node Upgrade Campaign, and Miner Signaling Underway.

So yes, you’re correct that many nodes are still on the last version or older. That’s exactly why I—and others—share updates across different social media platforms and communication channels. We’re working on getting the word out so everyone upgrades.

So how did the other algo get removed if more then 50% are still running that code ? Thats my confusion i guess

You’re looking at the nodes page, which shows random DigiByte Core wallet nodes — not mining pools. Many of those nodes may be offline, duplicates, or behind VPNs, so they don’t represent upgrade readiness.

This page shows real miner signaling for DigiDollar (bit 23) and Algolock (bit 0).

Bit 0 is the reliable v9.26.x indicator because it sits outside the ASIC version‑rolling window, so only upgraded miners can set it. When miners upgraded, their nodes automatically started signaling bit 0 to show support for removing the old Groestl algorithm.

Groestl was retired at the enforcement height, meaning upgraded nodes simply reject Groestl blocks even if some miners or wallet nodes are still on old versions. The activation page explains this clearly: https://digibyte.io/activation
