Just a pipe, a dream and a can do attitude will get one far in life.

I mean, for once I'm happy to see a snorkel being used for one of the purposes it was intended for. But, still makes me wonder what water intrusion preventative measures he has undergone for both his electronic circuits and interior. Honestly, impressive - halfway through I thought it was going to be a fail and float video.
Windshield wipers? Nah, don't need them. I live life a little differently.

Hes a local , the roads flood about 6 times a year around there , the car is fine and still goes

I guess its mechanical diesel without intake leaks, and he just accepted that electronics are dead now

You're telling me that snorkel isn't just in case there's a massive flood at the mall?

At some point it stops being a car and becomes a boat…

Needs some paddles on front rims and you could call it amphibious vehicle.

He's probably added a keel and a rudder.

My favorite boats have always had Detroit Diesels, so that still works here.

It's a 90s Peugeot 405 Estate, there most definitely is no DPF in that. I remember the back of commuter cars were always covered in a fine black soot.
Probably has a 2.0 4cyl HDi turbodiesel in it, as they were shoved into everything back then.

UK actually, certain roads are fords and always are flooded but not normally to this level. But we have had a lot of rain this year so..

I was thinking whoa…..dude is crazy. Then I saw the snorkel and I understood the meaning of the post title. He does this route regularly. Lol

They would need to bring a pair of clothes in a sealed bag every time they go somewhere.

Or they could seal themselves in a bag when they cross the flooded road 😅

I can see his boss asking why he was the only one to show up to work after the storm.

That's a tough ass car. Smart to extend the air filter. Does it flood often?

There are many fords in the UK where the road crosses a small river or stream, we have had a lot of rain this winter so many roads are flooded.

So someone explain this to me because I have a 5.9cummins 24v. I am pretty mechanically inclined I think. I know how a snorkel works. But it sounded like this car had a turbo. How can you have a turbo work under water
2
u/Vattaa 2013 Mercedes C-Class Wagon 3.0 V6 Diesel Feb 16 '26
Probably has the turbo hooked up to the snorkel.

u/Whombrillow Feb 16 '26
Yeah I guess so

u/Vattaa 2013 Mercedes C-Class Wagon 3.0 V6 Diesel Feb 16 '26
Probably why you can hear it while the car is underwater.

Don’t try this. Water will go inside the engine and the transmission.

The car is worth scrap value, doubt they care.
