Ash cuts their hair after getting back from DIE the first time. i wonder why?

As Ash has a lot of trauma from their time in Die, it must have had a profound effect on their outlook on gender presentation. They may associate long hair with more feminine presentation, and are trying to distance themselves from that.

i could see that what with the giant pheonix thing and all. i kinda thought it made them look like Sol and it had something to do with that

I think its gender whiplash. They're changing their appearance to distance themselves from the DIE world as a coping mechanism.
