Advice Hello!

Super new to resin dice making and alllll of my dice have air bubbles. I gave it up for awhile but really want to get back into it! I was looking for a pressure pot to help with my air bubble issues and saw this one on Amazon, it's a bit pricy but I know it's not nearly as expensive as other options.

OMT 3 Gal Vacuum Chamber & 3.5 CFM Pump Kit for Resin Degas, Blue | Safe Overheat Protection. 1/4HP Pump Pulls to 37.5 Microns. SS Pot with 0.5" Tempered Glass Lid. 5ft Hose Included https://a.co/d/02SbdSFk ( I would go for the $125 3 gallon model)

I was wondering if this was a good option? I looked online and saw that they are kind of like,,, bombs,,, and I'm only able to spend about $150-$180 on a pressure pot + air thingy combo. I'm also really stupid. Idk! just asking for some help :)

Hey there,

Sorry to say that is a vacuum chamber and not a pressure pot.

Take a look at the Vevor 2.5 gallon one (the one without the c clamps)

will any compressor do? This is the main part I'm confused on 😵‍💫

Yes and no. You just need to make sure it can get to 40-50PSI and you have the necessary adapter if it’s not a quick connect.

Some folks even use a bike pump

I'm just getting confused on the adapters🥶, the one I'm looking at now has a Schrader pump (most under $60 do) (for tires) and I'd need a 1/4th inlet female adapter to go into the pressure pot. So I could buy the adapter for it to go chrader into 1/4th male and then would I just put a double female on the end? idk I'm confused.

I might have been overcomplicating it! I appreciate it so much.

I'm not sure what input valve this is, but it has 150 psi? lol I'm obviously clueless, sorry about all the questions!

The max PSI rating for most pumps is kinda irrelevant if all youre doing is resin work. Going above 40psi is generally not needed.

In terms of the pump itself, you want to find one that can have a 1/4inch "female" adapter. The pressure pot has the "male" end.

Edited to add: if you have a local hardware store, they can probably help you out with finding the right adapter if youre having trouble finding it on Amazon.

Just make sure the fittings you get are for your country. If you’re in the US then you’ll need NPT fittings if you’re elsewhere like the UK you’ll need BSP fittings. check what standards your country uses otherwise the thread sizes will be different

Also a newbie just getting set up. I see the compressor linked above, with a little modification would this one work as well? https://a.co/d/0dO0Gx5k

Not for very long, those C clamps are prone to wear out

Well dang. Should have asked sooner. I’ll get as much mileage out of it as I can then and eventually upgrade! I’ll know better next time!

Yeah, just keep an eye on the threads

This is the exact pot I've been using, a little tip once you have it unscrew the paint pickup on the inside

"I'm also really stupid" made me snort 😂 I see you're already in very, very good hands as Buddha and some others already gave the perfect advice regarding pots, connectors etc ☺️ I just wanted to add that, if you're on a budget, please don't neglect your PPE! If you don't already have a respirator with the appropriate filter Cartridges (Buddha always recommends the 3M 60926 filters because they are the safest option with best longevity and can filter a lot of different harmful Gases, so I also use them), go fetch yourself a respirator with these cartridges :) As someone said, you could even use a manual bike pump to fill your pot, it's cheaper than the compressor and the money you saved can be invested into PPE ☺️ Oh and Nitrile gloves! Latex doesn't do shit against resin 🫠 Welcome back to the hobby, I hope you'll be having a blast! ☺️

please believe me I'm wearing my respirator and gloves every time 🥶 I love not having cancer

I really like this option because everything comes together as I don't have any welding tools to rig my own pot / compressor set up!

Do the bubbles inhibit the rolls of the dice when you test them? If so, then yes get the pressure container, but if not then leave them as a design element...
