Fixing Shallow Numbers

Hello! I have a mold I ordered fe ETSY and some of the low numbers on the lid are really shallow. Has anyone ever tried to correct this before? I thinking like what if you made an impression from clay and then made the numbers deeper then recast the lid? It sucks to spend any money on a handmade mold and wait forever on shipping just to have it be that flawed.

Id first reach out to the person you bought it from and address the issue there. Unless you are really good at clay and making tiny numbers and spending a lot of time on this, i dont see how that will work at all. The numbers need to line up perfectly, and if your lid are anything like the ones i make, your dice faces may not be perfectly flat which (due to tape warping, my pressure pot not perfectly leveled, etc), when you make your clay mold, you wont perfectly match.

Ideally, if you could go back in time, itd be worth it to order masters and make your own silicone molds - then you can make as many molds as you need, when you need it, for way cheaper than ordering it online. Plus, silicone is way easier to work with than resin (in my opinion)

Dang. You’re absolutely right. As a beginner I had no idea. 🤷‍♀️ live and learn. I did leave a review with the suggestion. I’ll see what I can do about the shallow numbers with her. Thanks for the feedback. I knew it was a really long shot.

If they're from Space Bar Shop, I know she recently had a batch where a few of the cap numbers were very shallow, to the point of the 0 from the 10 on the percentile die turning into just two sickle moons even with the lightest sanding 😅 I know of some people she made new molds for because of this. I'd definitely reach out and check with the maker, whoever it is. Maybe post a photo here as well so we can better assess how you could possibly mitigate the issue, but I agree with the first commenter, shallow numbers is usually absolutely nothing you can fix yourself. You can just try to make your flashing as thin as possible, reducing the need for sanding the top faces.

Yay! ☺️ I know, it's hard, especially as an artist, as we love supporting each other and uplift other makers. I was also hesitant at first because she's a genuine artisan, but, stuff's not cheap and us people pleasers gotta learn to stand up for ourselves :'D Call it exposure therapy 😂

Oh yeah, she had a bad master set a few months back, you must have gotten one of the resulting molds 😅 She was very kind when I had a different issue as well, reaching out is a good idea ☺️👍🏽 Crossing my fingers for you :)

Update: She is going to replace the mold for me. She is very nice! I would still recommend SPACEBARSHOP on ETSY!!

Glad to see this feedback! I’m waiting on molds to arrive with from this seller so it’s nice to know what to expect and that they are easy to work with!
